Default What Is Hyyundaib Thinking

I randomly went on the Genesis coup forum just to see if people were having problems. I was shocked to see so many quality control issues. The 6spd is notorious for grinding issues at just 800 miles, and many were overhauled through warranty. Some were experiencing starting problems. Wasn't Hyundai supposed to be revitalized with reliable cars? Now they're attempting to tackle a direct injection Veloster motor. I don't get it.... Wouldn't you first correct your transmission issues before moving on to something more sophisticated. DI will be a nightmare with it's special pressure pumps and additional mechanics.

The all talk nasty about the CR-Z. I bought a CR-Z because the L15 has been proven time and time again in the Fit models to be a bullet proof motor. Honda's manual trannys area also flawless.

So why would someone buy a Hyundai... Because they can't afford a Honda?

Whoa, let's not resort to personal attacks here. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe does cost more than the CR-Z straight out of the gate. It also sports a more powerful engine and can seat four.

I will try to address your question of why they are working on direct injection on the Veloster when they have transmission issues. In development of systems, there might be a group of people whose specialty is in engines; and another group of people whose specialty is in transmissions. In the project management world, they're called "resources." Rest assured they coordinate their designs, or else the darn things wouldn't come together. It is possible to reallocate "resources" (i.e. get an "engine" guy to work on the "transmission"), but that may further slow the project down.

They can attack the CR-Z all they want. People think I have a cool car. I tell them that it also has modest price tag, but they have to know what they're getting themselves into. If you really want to make a shot across their bow, just send them a picture of your odometer past 800 miles with the phrase "No tranny overhaul needed here!"

the l15 is not bulletproof but is reliable. and Honda has had problems with their 6 speeds.

It's just mind boggling why Hyundai would jump so far ahead with sophisticated sports cars. The Elantra and Sonata seem to doing great. Why not build upon the Elantra or Sonata. The new Direct Injection system seems a bit risky to jump into right away. Why do you think Honda chose to not incorporate it into any of their current model lineup. They have VCM and lean burn can achieve what DI does. Honstly... The only trust worthy DI I'd consider is the new Subaru FR20 and FB25 which were co developed with Toyota. The use Toyota's DI system.

I would also like to point out the Kia Forta has been having some troublesome manual transmission issues according to true delta and forums. Not looking good at all for Hyundai.
