lol I hated oblivion and Fallout 3...kinda liked New Vegas...so because I saw they changed stuff in New Vegas, I hoped they did same thing to Oblivion...and boy was I surprised...was disappointed that the story took a long time to kick in (I think I was level 10 when it happened) and that I started as an archer than did a mage....and the game seems like you need to be a heavy armor wearer shield and sword for the begining...it was so hard to level as an archer and mage...but eventually I managed to level sneak and archery and I feel like a sniper...no one ever sees me and I kill everyone without anyone knowing who what and where I am lol...but yeah to answer your question...spent many hours playing it...a lil too much =P Kinda joined back to WoW cuz of it, It made me miss the multiplayer aspect to RPG's.

I've probably spent more waking hours in skyrim the last few weeks than I have outside. So good.

Tough to level as a mage

I've played Oblivion and found it easiest to use magic type attacks. Crafting my own shock type attacks that did huge close range damage. Never tried archer... although being a ranged attacker was the only way I found to solo through the Champions of Norath.
