Default Cataract surgery, 36 hours without driving my CR-Z

A good report!

Didn't get to drive my CR-Z for a bit, but it was worth it

Had cataract/lens replacement surgery on Monday morning, with no problems at all.
This was my first operation of any kind ever, and the fretting about it beforehand
was much worse than the event itself, as it went very smoothly.

Spent as comfortable an afternoon/night as one could with a patch on it.
It was weird having only one working eye and thus no "depth perception".

Doc removed the patch Tuesday morning and says it looks great.
Have to put in two different drops four times a day for a week.

And I can see better! And I drove it today already!

Now I have to rest up for a week while the eye stabilizes, then get new glasses.
The new eye lens is set for distance so I will still need readers, and distance glasses
for the right eye for now.

So looks like I'm back to work in a week or so.

Congrats on smooth operation!

Surgery of any kind frightens me, especially if it's the kind where I have to be put under. 36 hours is nothing thou!

Glad it went well. GoHuskies is right - 36 hours out of the driver's seat is a small sacrifice for a good outcome.

Yup i got my first operation ever a few months ago in spring and the anxiety beforehand cus you don't know what to expect is annoying, but then you get to the OR, the Anesthetist asked me where i worked as he was injecting the drugs and he said "well this will feel like you went to get some drinks after work." and BAM I wake up in the recovery room and in my mind only 30secs had passed but everything was done. no pain, nothing. that is some GOOD **** they give you lol.

Glad you can get to drive the Z again

Thanks!

Thats it exactly on the anesthesia. I forget its name but they said it
was the same thing MJ was taking when he died.

Glad the Docs had a good control of the dosage

Edit: Anesthesia used was "propofol"

Glad to hear the op went well. I've had a few, but no eyes yet. May need a cornea transplant someday though, but that's another story... Hope you get thru the no driving stage sanely lol!

Glad things went well, I had mine done late last year. On the first eye, it was not entirely uneventful as I woke up during the procedure. I remember struggling with them till the got me back under. On the plus side, that eye came out 20/15 so that part was excellent! The second eye went smoothly, the really dosed me so it took longer in recovery. That eye is 20/30 - meh.

Actually, I have to be happy since I am a previous lasik patient. Whenever you do cataract AFTER lasik, it is not a 'slam dunk' that you'll get 20/20. (I didn't know that...) The reshaping of the cornea with lasik messes up the math they use to calculate the correct lens for your cataract. (really I DID NOT KNOW THAT WHEN WE DID LASIK). I need reading glasses now, but for the first time since 1st grade, I can see distance clearly without correction.
