I knew you were in the Navy and hoped you'd like the account. The both the trap and launch were intense. The trap was about as much G as I think I've felt. The launch, well, I've been in a car accident so I think the 'thrown into the belts' sensation was similar. What impressed me most was how noisy EVERYTHING on the ship was.

Very Cool - You got to do something that 99.9% of the sailors onboard do not..
And yes - it takes a while to get used to.. Especially for those working and berthing areas right under the deck (03 level). Used to flinch everytime something dropped on the flight deck - hoping it wasn't accidently armed ordinance.. Back when I was on one - USS Ranger - if single junior enlisted - had to pretty much live on the ship. I was (Junior and Single) and actually lived on the thing for 5 years. But, I know that getting out on one for the day was a great experience.. And a great video.. |

^^ It does seem like the longer you do it, the more likely something BAD could happen. I suppose the odds were in our favor by being there for only 24 hrs. I have read that a C-2 launches at about 3.5 G, doing 0-120 in that time. Is this about right? What about the trap? Do you know much force are we feeling and how fast the landing speed is?
