Default Cat Trouble!

Hey Dudes and Dudettes, I have a problem with a stray cat. Here's the story I park next to a wall with a dumpster on the other side. So mister stray cat likes to jump on the hood and make his way up the windshield to my roof, than jumps to the top of the wall and into the dumpster. It wouldn't be bad unless the cat has muddy paws and the prints are everywhere in the morning, not to mention my alarm going off all hours of the night. Does anyone know of a way to deter this animal from using my CR-Z as a nightly playground! Now we must be nice so a pellet gun is NOT an option (yet) LOL!

If it's a stray then why don't you bring it to the closest animal shelter, another option is to call animal control.

What I would do, since you don't want the cat to leave, just stop messing with your car, would be to create a different avenue for the cat to use.

Maybe create a small ramp for the cat to use, you could even hang a rug on the dumpster to make something for the cat to cling to.

Otherwise you could try to keep the cat disinterested in some way. Maybe a touch sensitive siren like the ones used to keep your dog off the couch placed on the hood of your car.

I wish it was that easy but here in L.A. your lucky to get a cop after a murder case. BTW they control the animals. If I try to catch it I'll be put in jail for animal cruellity.

One tip you can try-look for a cleaner/wax/something with a citrus smell. If you can stand the smell emanating from your car, hopefully it will deter the cat from going anywhere near it.

Or throw some cut up oranges in that dumpster. If the cat doesn't want to get in the dumpster, maybe it won't use your car as a path to it.

(all of a sudden, I am picturing a CR-Z with tree air fresheners all over the hood)

Can you park somewhere else or is it an assigned space?

I have two outdoor cats who climb on the cars in the winter for engine heat, but luckily have done no damage. They don't like the CR-Z as the hood is too sloped for comfortable naps so maybe the cat will find a new target if you move your parking space.

There will always be strays in a city. You move this one out and another will take over the turf.

Or feed the cat, to keep it from going to the dumpster. It's probably digging for food.

Just want you wanted, huh? Adding cat food to the grocery bill.

There are some motion activated air sprayers (like the can of air you use on your computer) that scare the crap out of the cats when they "hiss". You could set one of those up on your plastic area where the wipers are, and after a couple of those.. he won't come near your car again. I will try to find a link for you when I get a chance. They also make a motion activated water sprayer.. but that is a little more pricey.
