I got some ram for my new 27" iMac. since its a quad core i have 2 free ram slots so i figure i would punch in a couple 4 gig sticks to bump me up to 12 gigs of ram. Put in the sticks, now the imac is reading one 2 gig stick, and one 4 gig stick. But not the other ones. - im quite puzzled. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas if there are any mac heads on the site.

Major Machead here
It's my living. The most likely problem here is that one (or both) of the sticks in bank 0 are not seated, or are just plain defective. Try swapping bank 0 with bank 1 - does the problem move? BTW 27" iMac here too. *fist bump* |

Also make sure to put the two identical in the same bank ( i.e. 4 gig rams in bank 0s).
Where did you get the rams at? Cheap rams are really cheap and greater chance for defective. Also recommend a shareware app called Rember. It's a ram test utility for the Mac. http://www.kelleycomputing.net/rember/
