Default Ham / Amateur - Radio

Anyone looking into installing a ham radio or antenna?

Here is what I have ordered for my own car, you might do the same -

Ham Radio Outlet | DIAMOND NR-770HRKS | 2M/440 MOBILE 3/5.5DB UHF CONN

same as -

Diamond® Antenna ~ NR770HRKS Dualband Mobile Antenna

Let me know how that works. I got my radio in my car but kinda temporary though. It is a Kenwood tm-261 and I have it plugged into accessory plug and it slid right into the little slot below the stereo and about the drink holders. I am using a mag mount right now run out of the top of the trunk. I think I am just gonna use my new hand held in there most of the time though. I would rather use the antenna you are talking about than a mag mount if it works well

I always had some Yaesu FT (7900, 8800 or similar with detachable head unit) in my cars and used all kind of antenna amounts including similar to what you are showing. I somehow could not find he right lace for the antenna. The back of the CRZ is so "smooth) that somehow the antenna would sort of ruin it.

I have a shorter (5/8) mag mount which I used with the Pilot and could use that from time to time but jury is still out. Also have two "long" 2m/44 diamond antenna which was used with the civic and use with Pilot for longer trips. I usually leave the main unit in the back of the cars so changing antenna is easy.

Nothing installed as of yet ...

Have you been talking on it yet to see how it works? What kind of radio are you using in the car?

right now I am using an older yeasu ft-2800 2m only, with 70w and it seems to be working well. it comes with a micro cable. makes for easy routing of the cable. i am not having any problems with noise right now form the car.

If I watch the S meter on my radio I can see it go up a lot when I hit the brakes or the electric assist kicks in. The radio does a good job of not breaking the squelch when it happens though. I don't hear the noise. Not sure if it is gonna affect anthing or not.
