Default Freethought debate

For those with passion for the topic. Or just free time.

I am tired of having to be politically correct and hide my views because for whatever reason freedom of religion got twisted into a method of policing freedom of speech. I don't care who you worship and I'm even ok with seeing religious billboards all over the place, but don't tell me to shut up because denying religion is disrespectful - it is not.

Not having a religion is not an option these days and any kind of challenge toward the dogma in general is viewed as immoral, decadent and outright wrong. Apparently the only reason humans are not killing each other non stop is because they are afraid of their deity of choice. If not for the fear of eternal damnation, we would never learn not to steal from each other and to take care of the disabled. Right.

I am also sick of religious obsession with other people's genitalia. Yup, I am of opinion that what people do with their junk, as long as it's consensual, is their business.

Yeah, a car forum (even in offtopic section), not a perfect place for this kind of outbreak, but it just happened to be a good cross-section of people who are not normally interested in this topic, so why the hell not?

Zoltiz! Excellent rant! And not a single misspelling, I am impressed!

That makes you an absolute rarity on this forum, you know... you might be subject to discrimination due to your spelling ability, and your grasp of grammar!

Are you sure you don't drive a "bug" or something?

It will be very interesting to see where this goes.. and how long it stays flame free! hopefully it will be a great forum for mature debate on volatile subjects.

I didn't qualify for a Bug because of my strong fiscally conservative views. Next thread - "Libertarians and You". Painfully funny topic.

you shouldn't have to feel this way about not caring for a religion. Here in Quebec we haved kick that $hit out the door in the 60s.we want no part of it in the public place or are schools, anywere for that matter.religion is something personal that you should keep home or in your church or musk or what ever you call the place were they drive stupidity in your brain.i dont care what religion you believe in your are being FOOLED!!! and if anybody dont like it they can just walk away.(to stay polite)
and for those who care about speling and grammar,i was raised in french, lived in french all my life exepte for a fiew years in the state(fla)and i learn english by talking it with people and writing from reading it everywhere.so give me a brake will you ?

franck, I moved to the states about 10 years ago (from ex-USSR), and it's a shock, especially in rural areas the fanaticism and fundamentalism is frightening. Tolerance is preached, but only like-minded are tolerated. Religion here rules politics, healthcare, even economy to a certain extent.
