Never had one, but man before the CRZ came out an Audi TT was #1 on my wish list, followed closely by pontiac G8. What I know about the TTs is that they are frickin sweet, quite fast, excellent handling especially with the AWD, sweet interior, lots of options we dont have like heated seats.
Reliability? Gotta gotta gotta keep up the scheduled maintenence on those things, when they break its a chunk of $$$$ No idea on insurance but you can bet its more than for a CRZ, mileage I think they get about 27 but its different every year so I can't be sure. Anyways, way outa my price range but cool car, would love to own one. |

Nothing worse than a guy driving an Audi tt, that's a total chick car. But to answer your question, decent on gas, expensive repairs bc it's an Audi, and insurance can be high because it's turbo. If ur in the market for something similar, I'd suggest a Hyundai genesis coupe, ms3, 135, **** even a miata before a Audi tt lol.

IMHO, a miata is much more of a chick car than a TT. I don't know any females who understand half the tech inside the interior of the TT, and they certainly can't work the 6 speed. I see the TT as a specialty car for well-off driving enthusiasts who value comfort and interior quality that is second to none and want to drive something different than most people have. Also for those who have no love for rice burners or chinsey american built cars. Like I said, MHO.

Audi themselves don't understand the technology that's in the car lol why? Bc half of it is pointless and useless. My gf drives an 09 a4 and u know the only buttons she cares for? Seat heat, windows and radio! What more do u need? And FYI my girl can handle a 6 speed very well.

In general Audis while well engineered cars, are not as reliable as a Honda or Toyota and maintenance costs are more than triple that of a Japanese or American car. Fuel economy will not be much above 25 mpg and if you drive it spiritedly, you may see 20 or less. If you are young insurance costs may be high because Audis have high repair costs and are typically rated as performance cars. |

I really like the audi tt, but I'm not stupid. I know for a fact my wife loves the TT, so I'll just wait and I know she'll pick one up after ditching the minivan.
That way I'll get to keep my DD cr-z, get some other four seater that I like AND get the TT via my wife. Now I just have to figure out how to convince her that the "S" part of TTS means um ... Er. ... Safety,... Yeah that's it... ![]() TT always seemed to have good gas milage and looks, but a little small. Amazing that there are four seats in that but not the USDM cr-z. Go figure. -Hoi

My family had the 1.8 engine in an A4 so the TT will probably have some of the same issues. Common problems were sensor and light cluster failures. Other problems we had were the steering wheel locked up and the internals needed replacement along with other engine issues. All of these happened within 50,000 miles of ownership.
It's not cheap to maintain but I read the TT can be a fun car with ample upgrade options. Fuel economy will be typical VW/Audi. 30+ capable if you do mostly highway cruising. Drops like a rock when you are in town and laying on the boost. |
