Yes it is absolute B.S.! People in prison and welfare are getting there checks but not our brave men and women. Just so you know Bachmann and 86 other House members are not excepting there pay and Bachmann is trying to push through an emergency bill so the members of our armed services get paid. But, guess who is blocking that and It's not the Republicans. Just remember this come November 2012. Also remember this budget was supposed to be passed when the Dem's had full control of congress and the oval office before last November's elections.

Second half: from CNN Democrats said Republicans were hung up on abortion and other issues related to women's health. Republicans insisted that the size of spending reductions was still the main cause of the dispute. "This all deals with women's health. Everything (else) has been resolved. Everything," Reid said Friday morning. "It's an ideological battle. It has nothing to do with fiscal integrity in this country." Not as cut and dry as your post would indicate. EIther way this will most likely be my last comment on the subject. Remember the universal tip: when making conversation avoid religion and politics. Everyone has an opinion no matter what. I respect yours but i dont want to get sucked into a debate |

I won't comment on my political standing. However I will say if it starts with "Democrats say" or "Republicans say" its probably not the whole the truth. In reality, the only people who know exactly what issues are holding up the bill are the people who are there. Of course Republicans will blame Democrats, and Democrats will blame Republicans, its all about political posturing, and has very little, if anything, to do with what is best for our country.

I know about the "women's health". Why don't they call it what it is- federal paid abortion. That's not very "cut and dry" is it changing the name to something else? They change the name to get sympathy from the public. Since 98% of the abortions are done out of convenience rather than "women's health", yes I am for the stop of the funding. |

I am hoping and 99% sure that if this is not resolved over the weekend, that a emergency bill without any stipulations will be passed to keep our active duty and reserve forces paid. With the US publicly involved in 3 engagements involving hundreds of thousands of our uniformed members - to not do so would be so outrageous it would be...
The little children in DC are giving us and embarrassingly so - the world - some drama for the moment. Remember, whether Democrat, Republican to include Tea-baggers, we put them there. Maybe "we the people" are at fault - wanting fiscal security but are so affronted when social programs are at risk... I think the original idea was that "we the people" would help our communities and neighbors - not the government. Plausible Deniability. We are a confused nation in transition. Be interesting where it goes in the next decade or 2. The rest of the world is shouting "freedom" and we are potentially becoming more....??? Enrolling your children in a language class would be a good idea. As things are going Chinese or Arabic might be good choices. "we the people". |

Years and years of out of control spending and they are wrangling over what, $38 billion? They need to be cutting HUNDREDS of billions just to get back to break even! Why isn't the argument over $500 billion in cuts?
