I love my Subarus but no way near as reliable as a Honda. motor on my STi went at like 32k miles lol oil pickup tube broke. i have a neglected 95 accord with 300k+(odo stopped turning at around 300) still has the original motor, tranny, clutch etc

I loved my STi and it saved my life. I got t boned by a camaro doing 45 and got out with only having my bell wrung by an airbag. Extremely safe car and was always reliable for me with 400 hp

yeah I have never seen a strong of shell as Subaru has. My brother was driving my old TW (turbo wagon legacy) when a semi sideswiped the rear quarter when he was driving down the interstate, semi basically diddnt see him and about ran him off the road. Car gad a crunched quarter, chewed up by the semi lugnuts and wheel and bumper, but drove it home.

My 07 motor failed at 87k. They aren't junk, they are just unreliable.

From what I've seen the 5th gen Accord is the most reliable Honda ever. Mine only has 130k and it's been trouble-free so far (built in Ohio, too)

That said, my dad's last Subaru Outback was at 315,000 miles when he sold it.

At the same time my parents' 2001 Odyssey is on its third transmission.

Every auto maker has its hits and misses. It mostly depends on how new the design of chassis and engine are (My 97 Accord uses a platform and engine that essentially came out in 1990, whereas the 2001 Odyssey came out in 1999, using a new V6 and a transmission that wasn't strong enough)

^ could mistake the number of zeros just as easily if math deficient. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I saw when I taught an evening math class at a local community college over a decade ago and I'm betting the skill level isn't much better these days.

There are good and bad engine/tranny combos in most makes.
