I switched my Silver 6MT over to fully synthetic oil.
Mobil 1 0-20 W viscocity. Mine is garaged all the time though. Gets cool here in Toronto, Canada. -16C with wind chill to -22C 3 days ago. Never any problem IMA starting it, although it only sits outside for an hour or 2 a day. Enjoy. |

61north, thanks for the response. We do get quite a bit of snow most winters but they use sand or salt no gravel. I suppose if it really is bad out I can use 1 of the 3, 4x4 trucks I have. Unless I get caught up in a storm while im already out with the Z. Just was concerned about how low that nose is. Guess I got my answer. Thanks!

There is no "problem" with IMA start. The car by itself just uses the starter motor when its cold instead. After its warmed up from driving, subsequent starts are with the IMA.
Garaging it would make a tremendous difference. I do not have a garage so my Z is outdoor 100% of the time. Quote:

I don't get great gas mileage in the winter either. I live in Michigan and this is the first winter that I've had it in and I get around 4 mpg less than I get in the summer. I get a little upset if I get less than 40 mpg and I have been around 35-39 mpg all this winter. My car also handles excellent in the winter! far better than my truck, last year I had to put about 800 lbs of salt and sand in the back to get some traction, which led to about 14 mpg in my Dakota! I love the traction control on my CR-Z, it make me feel more confident pulling out into traffic.

It warmed up and we had a snow day today. About 10 inches of snowfall. The Z did great today on the roads. The most stuck it got was right next to my driveway when I got home. After I cleared my driveway I managed to free it by rocking it back and forth, turning traction control off and some persistence.
Here is a picture taken from my front porch. The two 32 gallon garbage cans you see sticking up from the snow are not touching the ground, they are on top of a couple feet of snow.
