After
having trouble finding a CR-Z in Los Angeles and after getting some
search support that didn't pan out, I gave up finding a EX 6MT in Los Angeles and just bought one from Boston, at Bernardi, sight unseen. Put money down a week ago, flew to Boston to pick it up yesterday and am currently driving it back. Early observations:
- Wow, 'Sport' mode is way more fun than I had expected (or experienced in my test drive)
- There is zero power in 'Econ' in 6th gear at freeway speeds
- Nearly fifteen hours in the saddle today; the seat isn't bad.
- The rubble strips bordering I-80 are a life saver for a fact, I know.
- The MPG meter isn't accurate to its precision; happily the MPG meter is low
- How do those hyper-milers go it?! Not averaging 70 mph, surely.
- There are a sh*t load of bugs in the US of A
Also, I was really treated well at the dealer. Smoothest car transaction I ever had; even though I was worried out-of-my-mind that I would fly from LA to BOS only to find some problem. No problem. The salesman picked me up at the train station and drove me to the lot (a giant Honda dealer with quite a few CR-Zs). I presented my check, signed the paper work, attached a temporary CA window, got a car introduction, took a picture and drove off. Really a pleasure. Paul Wisdom was the salesman.
Currently near Lincoln NE, last night in PA - nearly 1,000 miles today. 1,600 to home
