Over the past three weeks I traded in my HD 1200 on a 2011 Honda CBR 600 RR and a 2011 Honda CR-Z (now you are starting to get a sense of why my friends are shocked). The bike, hands down, best decission I could have made. Everything about it is better than the HD and my hope is that while the CR-Z is a different animal than pretty much any car that I've ever owned, it suprises me just the same. My first impressions of the car is that it is fun, not in a fast way, but in a go-kart kind of way. Also it looks pretty cool especially now that I had my windows tinted (today in fact, 15% before anyone asks) and lastly, and most suprisingly for a guy like me, is it feels kind of good in a weird way knowing that I'm driving a Hybrid. After owning a modded SRT-8 that had a race tune and all kinds of other goodies, it was averaging 10 miles per gallon of premium, having a car that is the direct opposite makes me feel a bit better. And lastly, and the real reason I traded in my baby (SRT) is that for me the car is free, work picks up the tab so I kissed a $706 a month car payment, $200 a month in premium fuel (thankfully I work from home or that would have been much more) and have cut my insurance in half. Anyway, feel free to fire off questions if you have any and I'm sure you'll all be hearing all of my newbie questions soon enough. Thanks in advance. |

Welcome to the site. There is much for you to learn here. I have had mine for 9 months and I am just starting to mod it. I am like you and have had a 5.0 mustang, Subaru WRX, BMW Z4, and Infiniti G35. All of those cars were modded and way faster than the CRZ. That being said I really like and I am impressed with the CRZ. In base EX trim and 17" the car handles great and now that I have had it a while I have figured out how to wring out the power. This car is about handling and looks. Anyone can buy a car thats quick 0-60 and I used to have to have that. Now I want something different. Handling, Looks and MPG. If I wanna fast 0-60 or 0-100 I jump on a motorcycle. There are few cars that can match a motorcycle in performance but for every day use the CRZ is perfect.
The guys I work around hate the car. They are so full of the, your not a man if you don't have a V-8 or a truck. All of them need to grow up. Plus who cares what others think as long as your happy. I am not a hiper miler. I usually drive in normal mode about 70% and sport 30%. Depends on the road and my mood. I have had fuel economy as low as 27mpg and as high as 44mpg and I average 35mpg and have fun doing it. Pics please |

One of the last cars I sold off was a 11 sec modded GTP , I seldom ever made use of it's power short of the track. In the end I'm far more content with the CRZ , it's as much as I need in a street driven car and easier to live with .

Hey there - welcome to the group!
I hope you will continue to enjoy your CR-Z (pretty sure you will) for a long time. Looking forward to your insights into this car, and hearing about your experiences with it!

Thanks (actually thanks to all for a warm welcome). I'll put up some pics soon, but right now I'm embarassingly dirty on both fronts. I just got the Z tinted (15%) the other day and my neighbor is an engineer who works with CF so I may give him the bike shield to dip along with a few other parts, but if that's going to take too long I'll snap a few pics over the weekend after I wash them both.
