but I doubt that'll happen seeing as I usually end up ranting about my obsessions. The CR-Z seems to be slowly fitting into that category lately. I ran into a CR-Z the other day and couldn't get over how good it looked with just a lip kit, a big drop, and some wheels. /drool Back on topic, I own a 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe and have plans on purchasing (or at least helping) a CR-Z EX for my sister who is just about to get her license. I don't like the thought of her driving some beater as her first car, and I've already taught her stick on my car (she learned very quickly, surprisingly). After ranting to her for hours on end on "modding," she has picked up an obsession with wheels, springs (lol), and lip kits. I picked up photography a few months back and have taken multiple photos of the Genesis Coupe's in my area. I'm also the photographer for the SoCal GC Team that is very active in car shows in the San Diego area. That being said, I'm sadly leaving to live closer to my family to help them out with various things back in New Jersey. I'll probably be residing in the Fort Lee area when I get back so I thought I'd take this chance to introduce myself so when I get back, I can take some shots of the CR-Z's in the area. ![]() For the tuners out there, I've done basic cosmetic work for my GC as I'm more than happy with the 306hp from factory. I'm dropped on Megan Racing Coilovers (was not satisfied with Eibach's Springs) but that is the extent of my suspension, wheel, and tire upgrades for now. Relocating to NY has delayed my plans on 20's and a "hella flush" stance for now, seeing as the roads in NY/NJ are... horrible. I plan on teaching my sister how to work on her own car, change her own oil, etc. It should be a fun experience and I cannot wait to get my hands on this car. Nice meeting you and I hope to network with some local tri-state area CR-Z drivers (hopefully tuners!) in the near future. Regards, Q ![]() 25mm R Adapters for now. HI, and welcome!
I was toying with a GC, before buying the CR-Z. Liked everything about it, except the fuel economy. When the CR-Z came onto my radar, I had to go that way. But I can see the attraction to both cars. Looking forward to your input on the forum, and insight into the two cars, perhaps. (and, of course, the pictures). Oh, and don't worry about ranting on - if it's interesting stuff, and you're enthusiastic about it, it's all good! |

Yeah the fuel economy in my 3.8 isn't that great, I average around 18-20mpg since I do mostly city driving. That being said, getting on it always puts a smile on my face. I'm pretty low in terms of ride height right now, ever since I got coilovers. I scrape on the smallest incline and get on 3 wheels often (thank God for LSD), but I think it's the ridiculous things like that, that make the GC so much fun. The community on GC forums is pretty chill compared to the other forums I used to frequent. Evo forums were the worst when I had my Evo X. As for the CR-Z, I like the exclusivity. I've seen maybe 2-4 Genesis Coupes in the San Diego area, none of which were modded. It's nice to turn heads when you're 3 inches off the ground and seeing people do double takes only to realize it's a Hyundai haha. I get a ton of compliments though, more since the 4+ inch drop + spacers + camber. CR-Z has a lot of potential cosmetically and since I don't care for another sports coupe at the moment, the CR-Z fits the bill quite well. Even better since I can pass it on to my sister. The thought of having two black stanced imports is mind numbing for me at the moment. I'm trying hard not to pull the trigger just yet. I told my sister to get a job and hold it for 2 months. Waiting on that and I'll be right along side all the stanced CR-Z's on these forums. Community seems very nice here as well, with a few exceptions that I've seen, but that's normal in a community. Anyways, will post pictures when I can. No more autobiography posts from me!

Thank you for the welcomes and compliments!
I plan on getting a lip kit and some wheels, and I'm done cosmetically. I'm on Megan Racing Coilovers at the moment and have 3 inch clearance from ground to front bumper, so going 20's will give me a bit more clearance yet maintain the flush look. I don't think I could install a lip at the moment, especially since I'm going to back to NJ/NY in 4 days.

Thanks brother!
You live in Fort Lee? That's where I'm probably the area I'm going to end up living. Since I'm Korean and Fort Lee is basically... the Korean town of NJ lol. I look forward to meeting you and checking out your ride as well.
