If I ever replaced my 91 CRX Si or my 91 Civic Si hatchback, I would consider the CR-Z, but it is going to be hard pressed to beat out the known longevity of the 91's. Apparently i would be giving up the sunroof if I got into a CR-Z, and probably would be giving up some mpg's in the process as well. The old 91 Si's are known to easily achieve 350k mile mark and mine are not even toddlers yet, 40.5k and 67k...... How many people can report some mpg figures and mileage marks. I get 38mpg no matter how i drive the 91's, sometimes a little better on long trips, can the CR-Z beat that? thanks

Welcome! I too had a CRX. Yes the CR-Z can beat it in gas mileage. In ECON mode at 60 MPH on flat ground I average at 49 MPG's and had an average of 42 MPG's. The sticker you see is the CR-Z tested in NORMAL mode and is actually lower than what this car gets. The nice thing about this car it does carry some of the same traits and "feel: of a CRX. With the ECON, NORMAL and SPORT mode it is like having the CRX HF, DX, and Si wrapped up into one car respectively.

Welcome! My CR-Z easily beats the factory sticker as well for daily driving. I'm assuming you're talking what you can get out of your older cars with normal driving and you would be driving this one the same way? Fuel economy figures seem to vary quite a bit for different forum members although at the worst, it still does what the sticker says it will at the minimum!
I kept my '88 Corolla as it's been a great daily driver, but wanted to have something else to help share the 30K miles I drive a year as Corolla isn't going to last forever. Corolla pulls 34/35 on a 75 mile mixed commute with stretches at 70 mph and stop and go traffic for a portion as well. My CR-Z isn't doing quite as well as V-Tec's but it gets around 39 with the a/c blasting (109 here today, and every day but one so far in August has been 100+). Before the heat set in, I was getting mpg's over 40. Highway trips I get around 44. CR-Z has modern safety features and comfort features that are hard to leave home. There are lots of comparison threads and discussion about its features and fuel economy here - just use the search feature on the forum. And it's FUN to drive which is pretty important too |

Welcome to the forum!
As for fuel economy, a number of us seem to be exceeding the published figures You'll see a Fuelly MPG number on a number of our member's signature lines, or go to Fuelly.com, and see what the average CR-Z users are reporting. Obviously, it will depend on the driving conditions (hills, traffic, even rain). I do better in the city than on the hwy with mine. Of course, as lots of comments on threads comparing the "X" with the "Z" point out, you have a lot more safety and environmental features in the new car, as well as a heap of newer technology (bluetooth, great audio, CVT (if you go that way), ...). As VTEC said, having the three driving modes is a real plus - a mode to suit every mood!
