Default Howdy from Texas.

Hi,

Old Texas redneck here. Just got a blue CR-Z EX with about 24K on it, program car. I was looking for something to just haul my butt around solo, and get great mileage, but I didn't want to get an "IIIIIII'm gay!" car (Prius). The CR-Z is perfect. I have driven old school bowties with 600+ horse for years so I wasn't expecting too much from the car. However I am very impressed with the performance. I can zip around town at a decent enough pace to get in trouble all I want, and get 37mpg doing it, almost 52 on the HWY. The car looks great too. Has tons of nice features you would usually find in a larger car, and handles much better than I expected. Honda has power/economy/price/features balanced just right here.
I have heard a lot of tuners griping about power, handling etc... on the CR-Z. You have to consider what it is, and isn't. It is a sport hybrid I.E. decent power with great fuel economy. It is not designed to be a bahnstormer. If you need raw power get a different(less economical) car. If you want to save at the pump, but still drive a car that excites the senses, and turns heads get the CR-Z.
I'm very excited to find this forum, and look forward to meeting everyone, and trade stories, tips, and tricks. I am interested in doing some customization down the line in both aesthetics, and under the hood. Lot's of good resources here, great job guys.

Welcome, Blue.
I suspect that's what you've named your car, too?
Come and sit a spell - share what you know, and we'll do the same.
Congrats on the car!

Thanks guys. Yeah Canadian, that's kinda what we've started calling her. The lil' blue zipper lol. It fits. I don't now much about hybrids yet. I have had a few Hondas in the past though. Really interested in some performance mods for under the hood to start. Nothing radical for now. Just a tweak here, a horse there, a smidge better mileage etc... I'm thinking an intake, logic controller(chip), maybe exhaust. A little more music from the tailpipe might be nice with the kind of mileage the little bugger gets you can afford to swap a mpg for a bhp.

I'm in the panhandle area. I frequent the mountains though. Just took it to Pagosa Springs, Colo., and zipped through the corners at speeds I'm ashamed to post. Ok not really, let's just say it was felonious, and I never squeeked a tire. The car is incredible. 45mph advisory sweepers at like 85, and 90. Could have gone faster, but I have kids to think about. Set the cruise at 80 on the major interstate highways and got 42 mpg ave. for the trip. I am so in love. Blasting tunes on the 360 Watt stereo, going stupid fast through tight twisties, and only spending $70 for gas on 800 miles of fun. Am I in heaven?
