Has anyone heard any news about the 2012 CR-Z because I am mainly buying this for the MPG and if the next year model gets better then I will wait it out. My second question is did any of you guys get a discount at all on the car, my past two cars were a Suzuki Reno and Pontiac G5 both were able to get it least a 1000 off the car. Now for my last question the transmission, I REALLY like driving manual always have been but because I am buying this car because of its sweet looks and awesome MPG rating should I go with the CVT. Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot guys! |

Welcome and yes I did. I went through Sam's Club auto buying program. 2012 models will probably be unchanged because they have just about stopped production because of the earthquake and had real no time for design changes.

The EPA numbers on mileage are way off! I suspect you won't actually get more then 1 to 2 extra mpg with CVT, over the standard (depending on driving style of course). If you check some of the threads here on mileage, you will see some people getting in the mid to high 40s consistently.... look at what they are driving. A lot of them are also on Fuelly.com Honda CR-Z MPG Reports | Fuelly and you can check that out.
If you like manual, then go for it... I think they are a lot more fun!

1. I haven't seen any changes for the USDM version.
2.I bought mine for invoice price: $19200+\- & was able to get the .9% financing Honda had at the time. Some dealerships are more of a pain than others when it comes to pricing, so check around. I've heard some are even doing markups?!? 3. I went with the CVT: 7speed and I commute about 140 miles/day...in traffic....on 95.... So happy with the CVT! |

I beat lots of people's CVT MPG with my 6MT
Its how you drive, and with the manual its a lot more personal. True, the CVT allows a tinsy tiny bit lower ratio in its top "gear" but then you have the added complexity of the CVT and whatnot = lost power. Put it this way I drive in sport mode allmost exclusivly and half the time I don't give a rip what my MPG is at, but when the mood hits me I can make this car sip gas with the best of them. I think I average better with the manual because I can control coasting and engine braking so much more, and coasting is a major factor in my hypermiling. This is a repost but you guys know I love my little MPG pics ![]()

Thanks a lot guys so far for the replies, they really are helpful...I went to the dealership and they are pretty much telling me because of the earthquake and limited supplies of CR-Z that their not going to be able to really discount the car at all. Which really is disappointing because I can get close to 3000 off the Chevy Cruze, I mean obviously its no where near as cool as the CR-Z but 20,000 is a lot of money to spend on the MSRP or it least pretty close to it...So I guess I will be going out far away to other Honda dealerships to see if they can make me happy and offer me more for my trade in. Hmmm decisions decisions...

Try online pricing too and also check out some of the car buying threads on the forum for tips. End of the month/end of the quarter are always good times to make a deal.
I have the 6mt - love it and love the car with it. Once I had a chance to test drive a manual CR-Z, I was sold. |
