I'm in Delaware, OH... Just bought a used blue 2011 6MT out of KY one week ago. Less than 6K miles, 1st owner only had it about 9 months! Oh well, this car is not for everyone. On the subject of meets, does anyone autocross? We might find an SCCA group we could join.

I had the time this past weekend to drive most of the "Triple Nickel". This is Ohio Route 555, and goes from just south of Zanesville, Ohio to US Route 50 on the Ohio River. Traffic was light, and the speed limit is 55, however, you can't drive that fast! I've never seen such sharp turns and steep up-and down before. In several places, I had to slow down because the road dropped away in front of me so sharply that I could only see about 50 feet. In a number of the sharpest turns, the road is steeply downhill into a 90 degree to the right with less radius than a street corner!
The CR-Z behaved beautifully through it all. I still have OEM wheels and tires (40 PSI). Very neutral handling, no scares. The battery went down to 3 bars very quickly, so it was necessary to keep the revs up. Drove most of the way in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. After viewing other twisty roads on u tube, like the dragon's tail, I would say that the triple nickel is much more challenging! |
