That is why Honda came out with the 'software update' recall.
The car WOULD go backwards while in 1st gear. IF the car had been stalled and / or the battery was in a low state.
Mine is exactly the opposite. Car goes forward while in reverse, but car NOT stalled and battery charged up.
Strange thing it only happens under one set of circumstances as stated in original post.
All other times it is normal.
