Default AJR CRZ x Mfactory **LSD & Final Gear installed**

We are proud that we have MFactory to be involved with our Project CRZ. For those who are not familiar with Mfactory, here are some back ground information about Mfactory:

“Established in 2004, MFactory Competition Products has since grown to become one of North America’s Leading Manufacturers of high performance off-the-shelf aftermarket transmission components, with our large range of Forged Final Drive Gears and Close Ratio Gear Sets offering enthusiasts undeniably THE most cost-effective method of performance improvement, far surpassing that of conventional engine tuning.

Being a specialist in this industry requires focused knowledge that can only be gained through years of first-hand testing and tuning experience. Challenging the old adage that “there is no replacement for displacement”, MFactory Competition Products have become a prominent figure in the highest levels of Motorsport, with class-leading recognition the world over in Circuit Racing, Drag Racing and Rally.”

With the support from MFactory, we are testing their HELICAL 1 WAY L.S.D. and 4.7 Final Gear on our project CRZ. With the bigger final gear, this will significantly improves the acceleration and also keep the revs up while you upshift (approx.9-12% gain in accel). As for the L.S.D., it will improve traction to the tires to improve turn in and exiting speeds through a corner as well as straight line by minimizing torque steer.

This is the link that Mfactory has posted for discussion for the gears and LSD Gauging Interest: More Torque, More Traction, still Eco-Friendly

Here's some pics for the product, progress of installation and fitment test !

**Mfactory 4.7 Final gear**

**Mfactory Forged Helical 1 way LSD**

**Transmission Removal**

**Transmission off the car**

**Opened up the tranny and getting ready to remove all the gears and differential**

**After empty out the gears, the housing is going to solvent tank!**

**Stock gears on counter and mainshaft**

**Comparison between stock 4.1 (top) & Mfactory (bottom) 4.7 final ring gear. As you can see the Mfactory has way bigger gear to increase the final driven ratio**

**Comparison between stock (right) countershaft and MFactory Counershaft (left). The Mfactory counter is machined to be smaller to match with the bigger final ring gear**

**Comparison between the stock open diff (right) and the MFactory Helical LSD.**

Mfactory LSD installed with Mfactory final gear and we are testing the clearance with the Mfactory countershaft carefully**

**Reinstalling factory gears back onto the MFactory countershaft**

**Installing bearings back to the Mfacotry LSD**

**Everything reinstalled back to the factory case**

**Double checking clearances**

**Complete transmission going back into the car !**

I will have another post in regards to driving impression soon !

I understand not too many ppl understand how bigger final gears and limited slip differential works so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. There's no such thing as stupid questions for us

We are the authorized dealer for MFactory products so for any sales related questions, please PM me or email us at sales@aj-racing.com

Thanks
Ben

Can A&J R do a comparison with a stock CR-Z and A&J R - MFactory CR-Z quarter mile, and a "Best Motoring" style 5 laps battle video?

We can do a comparison with stock and AJR with the differences in revs but not 1/4 mile since that's not our specialty

We wish we could do a Best Motoring video but we don't have a company who does this kind of stuff so no go on that

Give it about a week or so Ben.

I have a new tool that will help with the comparison between a stock CR-Z and one that's equipped with our trans. bits. The guys at Gearheads will be able to help!

Thanks again for fitting everything!

Can you explain the differences between a 1, 1.5, and 2 way LSD and how they would affect performance for an Auto-X event?

please post your driving impression, especially in curves and bends,

climbing torque impressions,

MPG modifications when using 6th gear cruising same speed highway please.

also +1 Eagle_f90 i would like more in-depth information about differences between LSDs types, being 1.0 1.5 2.0 helicoidal, metal plate etc.
what is the weight difference between stock open diff and LSD ?
