Yeah I don't think people here are completely retarded.. This is about using the ipad as the headunit. As in replacing the headunit completely. OR at least that's what I'm wanting to do.

I don't see the need for a cd player with an iPad that has access to iheartradio, pandora, and what ever music or movies you load onto it.

My thought exactly, which is why i had it priced without the CD player.

Not really sure why you would bother with a mini. If you want an 8" screen, Alpine makes an in dash nav piece that would fit with some pretty easy modification. Plus it would have things like an amplifier and volume control and radio built in. There is a whole forum dedicated to this over at Apple iPad

Soundman Audio was one of the first if not first shop to get an iPad in a vehicle and turns out they are already got plans for the iPad Mini. Little pricey, but if this is something you want and your in SoCal might wanna check them out. I've been following them since their 1st iPad install.

I'm in SoCal and planning on getting a mini. Ill have to talk to them. I haven't owned a cd in 5 years so I don't even need that. I would like to be able to take the iPad out for other uses. My biggest concern is will integrating an iPad ruin the steering controls?

What about that Dipping they do now? From their FB page:

Soundwaves is now offering a new service called dipping. This is a coating that can be put on any surface on the exterior of your vehicle and completely change the look of your ride. It can be applied to your wheels, emblems, chrome surfaces or even the entire vehicle. The coating can also be easily removed without damaging the original surface if you ever decide to go back to the stock finish. Available in many colors in matte, satin or high gloss. Please stop by and see what we can "Dip" for you!

Wow that looks great. A couple months back there were a few in dash installs that made the rounds online, some good, some a bit rough. But they all had the same problem: the danger of the battery overheating or worse if left out in the sun. The safest way to do it would be a second lead acid battery opposite the firewall connected directly to the tablet and charged by the 12V (but isolated). I like yours because it's removable.

Cheers buddy glad you like the idea, the crz version is a bit chunkier but its coming together nicely so far . Just wish there was an easy way to add a2dp blutooth to the existing head unit
