hey, looking great sofar. I will take the Paddles off you if you are not using them for anything. I wanted to put them on mine (6MT) and use it as Mode (sports, normal and econ) selector somehow.

Don't forget the rear steering wheel cover and the steering wheel harness. You'll need those too.

Also, I was thinking about your mode select idea and a way to make it work. The mode select switches are just momentary switches with different resistances and they basically send an analog signal to the gauge cluster. There might be a way to wire some resistors up so that the LEFT paddle is ECON, RIGHT paddle is NORMAL and BOTH is SPORT. Or whatever combination that works just using resistors; the example is just an arbitrary combination. I'll have to take a look at my service manual...

Got some practice material until my micro suede comes in. About $8 for needles, thread, 3/4 of a square yard of fabric and a leather thimble. You guys have fun at hobby lobby. I felt a little...odd.

So Joe's suggestion is to use suede as a base layer to add thickness instead of foam or neoprene because you'll feel the seams. More work to do! This isn't going to be a quick project, but once it's done... Totally worth it.

Got a little more done tonight. I'm tired though and it's bed time for me.

Here are some progress pictures.

The tape didn't work at all. I couldn't stretch it to the size it needed to be and it ended up being nearly 2 inches short of making it around the wheel so I ended up taking very basic measurements and cutting out a rough template. And yes my work area is a complete mess.

Not bad for an extremely rough and square template. If I wasn't hand stitching everything it would probably be flat instead of wrinkled but my seamstress is still moving into her new apartment at the moment. So I'm making do.

I'll try and get more done and perhaps a new template tomorrow.

And no brown is not going to be the final color. This stuff just happened to be cheap and have a similar stretch and feel of alcantara.

Template is really rough. I need to make it about an eighth of an inch narrower. And I definitely need to start sewing the lines I'm going to use to stitch it together. Probably going to have to use a glue or double sided tape to hold the thumb rest parts down.
