Well I was expecting the wheel to come in today, but it looks like it wont be till tomorrow.

Now I have to figure out what to do tonight since I was expecting to be working on it.

Guess I need to order some foam to make the steering wheel a tad thicker.

What do y'all think of this? Volara Foam

Price seems great and it sounds good. I don't have much experience with foam though so I wont really know.

For that much work, I'd just buy an ex wheel. But hey... more power to you!

An EX steering wheel, just the core, is $490.50 before taxes from the dealer. Online I can get it for $335.50 before taxes and shipping.

Even with all my stuff that I'm buying, new wheel core ($50) and supplies and tools ($140), I'm still at least $100 cheaper and I have something that no one else has right now. To me it's worth it. Even if it's a little bit harder to accomplish.

Volara foam is stiff and and a little slow reacting. Something that won't take a set would be a high priority. I would guess that a nice leather wheel could be obtained from a wrecking yard for $200 or less. However, the one off factor and having exactly what you want are some of the strongest motivations for our mods.

Any suggestion on what kind of foam to use? Maybe a neoprene? I feel like that's too spongy though. but I'm not going very thick so I guess it wouldn't be bad? Like I said, I know nothing about foam types and stuff like that.

Checked the wrecking yards for a leather wheel and no one had one. I was going to just cut the leather off of it and use it to make a template for my wrap.

That is a really good idea if you can find one!

At this point it isn't worth it. I'm too impatient and needed something to keep my busy
