Default New Subwoofer Build

I wanted to leave this part for anyone looking for a powerful amp in a small package for a small sub install so it's going to stay up here. Updates will be added on at the bottom of this post.

It's that small and it can put out 300 watts rms on a 1 ohm load with a 900 watt peak. Talk about a lot of power from a small package.

Project:
Total cost right now is looking to be a tad under $150 so it'll definitely be a budget build, but keep in mind that the amp is practically free and I already have my amp power wiring done.

I'll keep this thread updated as I get parts in and progress made. Nothing is getting ordered till friday at this point so the only thing that may get started is building the box.

Update: So I got a Rockford Fosgate R500-1D instead of the PBR300x1. Still only for shipping and still tiny just with more power. The sub is an RE SEX 10" dual 4 ohm. It's rated at 600 watts RMS and needs a .65 cubic foot box meeting my needs for lots of clean, powerful bass in a small package. The box is roughly 12 inches tall by 18 inches wide and 8 inches deep and fits against the back of the back "seat" and under the cargo cover with the sub firing into the rear.

Currently I have the sub in and it looks like a monster while weighing damn near 25 lbs. The box is almost complete just has to be carpeted. The amp will be here tomorrow and will be wired in with 4 gauge Rockford Fosgate wire. Hopefully this weekend everything will be set and ready to go.

1/4" Mdf is quite thin. I would use 1/2" minimum. But 3/4" is really the standard.

I thought image dynamics went out of business last year. I have a 12" IDMAX in my closet... Lil too much for the crz I think.

150 watts @ 2 ohms and 75 watts @ 4 ohms

That was a typo I need to fix lol I meant 3/4". If you look on the diagram I wrote 3/4" in the top left of the front view.

Nah the original owner left Image Dynamics last year but the company is still around as far as I know.

An IDMAX is insane for something as small as the CRZ. The IDMAX is comparable to the JL W6 line and the ID is comparable to the W3 line. And incase anyone is wondering, I'm comparing them to the JL's because they have very similar excursion ratings which most other subs don't come close to.

Ah, I didn't actually look at the diagrams.

I knew I heard something about Image, guess I figured since there doesn't seem to be a website anymore, that they were done.

For some reason now I'm trying to come up with a way to shoehorn that IDMAX into the CRZ...

Yeah that was more of a proof that it was a typo lol.

I'm not sure what's up with the website. It was working fine in February because I was going to get an IDMAX for my Fit. Not sure what's going on now though.

Let me know if you want some help. Is it a 12" or a 10"? And where do you want to put it?

I have a supercharged digital designs 1512 it's louder then any other single sub for the power and not quite as loud as my two type r's but considerably louder then one which is exactly what I wanted so if you wanted you can.make the idmax fit my one 12 is in a 2.5 cuft box vented

Sorry for jacking your thread here OneFitZ.

Clearly it will fit, however I think I prefer having the trunk space. I'll probably just stick with my 8" type-r in the factory location. Also, I don't really want to buy another amp... I don't think the pdx5 sub channel will really push it. I wonder where I can find the T/S numbers though since the site doesn't have anything on it any more. I imagine someone over on DIYMA probably has them.

Back to the thread at hand: where are you putting the box? It seems like the angle is very sharp.

No problem lol.

the IDMAX is 1000 watts rms and 1800 watts peak. Have fun powering that. Lol 1.3 - 1.52 cubic feet sealed box so not that big.. You could do it if you can get the power.

I think I'm putting it up against the back divider. I want it to fire into hatch glass so it reflects back into the cabin. I'm still toying between putting it there or putting it on the rear bench. I haven't really decided to be honest and I need to make up my mind soon.. Any suggestions?

I still have some trunk but I tried the sub box in the back seat area and it didn't sound as loud it's defiantly more output with the port facing the rear hatch or my current box has it on the side firing about where the factory sub sits I have the base. The sub face is towards the glass
