After looking at where it would go in my car, it looks like it may be difficult to install. Also, would you guys recommend me buying the navigation system that comes in the EX w/ Navi model or just buy a different brand like Pioneer or something like that? |

I had a buddy at Best Buy do my Pioneer Nav months ago, without any issues. He also did a Viper alarm w/remote start, 2 8" subs, 2 10" subs and 2 amps... but he's pretty competent. I can't vouch for other BB's...
I would recommend an aftermarket head unit, just from the cost alone stand point. My understanding is the factory Nav is bit outdated |

I have a personal preference towards Pioneer.
I recommend trying various makes/models in a showroom, finding a few your comfortable with and then checking others reviews. Crutchfield is a pretty good reference point. You'll need to decide how much you want to spend on the HU/Navi... From there you can check various install shops located around you and you can ask others in your area who've used them about price and service, or check reviews online. The price will vary depending on add on features (XM/Sirius, DVD bypass, iPod integration, etc...) |

I removed the factory nav and installed a Kenwood DNX9980HD. I chose Kenwood because they are the only manufacturer using the Garmin GPS. I am running a Pioneer in my Tundra because I have been a long time Pioneer user. I prefer the Kenwood.

@ffearless,
how did you deal with all the installed wiring? I am also considering to change the stock navi with an aftermarket navi and it would be great to use as much of the already available wiring as possible. I got stuck on crutchfield and the two connector sets (power, speaker, sub, and antenna). This may serve 3 out of 7 connectors. However I could not get any for the steering wheel control, usb, aux, gps... I have just got done with my stereo change out as well. I first tried the Clarion NX 702 and I gotta say, the sound quality was crap but the GPS was great. Not too impressed I returned it and got Pioneer AVIC 140BH, this has great sound quality but the Navi is not as good as the clarion. Now I am kind of looking at the Kenwood. The only thing is I am not sure is the kenwood plays MP4 like music videos from the usb drives. I was told by the crutchfield advisor that it does not play mp4 from usb. Can anyone that has one verify?
So at the moment I have the AVI 140. I think with the insturctions that they send you from crutchfield you should be able to install it on your own. Its pretty much plug and play with just couple wires to crimp. |

Got a Garmin in the Wife's car.. It's OK I guess. Best thing about it I like is I can take it on travel with me and use with the rentals. Does what it is advertised to do and is pretty cheap.
But nothing compares to a large integrated in dash system.
