The obvious is to throw in some nice components in the front, The rear two speakers I was thinking of putting two JL 6w3s in there, they are solid subs and I think they would add enough extra low. Input? Perhaps I could throw a full range in the rear sub enclosure and use the rear glass to give me my rear mids back.? |

I wanted to upgrade my stereo, with minimum expense and modifications. I simply replaced all the existing speakers, but left the OEM HU, amp, and sub. I did poly fill the sub though, which gave it more punch. You can read about my install here.
You sound like you want to go further than what I did, but maybe my install pictures will give you ideas. Oh, btw adding subs will most likely require dedicated aftermarket amps. I wasn't looking to go that far myself.

It's hard to say because I'm not sure how much you're wanting out of your system. A single subwoofer firing upwards at the glass with a rear firing port will give a bit of punch and sound really nice if you build it correctly, however this method will take your trunk space.
A few members on here have replaced their stock 8" subwoofer with something a bit punchier, and from what it seems they are getting good results. SS2CRZ has a nice thread on it if you'd like to look into that. |

I’m trying to find that middle ground too ! My Audio guy is going to install four 6.5 Massive speakers to replace the factory ones..
FYI : Massive is a relatively new speaker co. that’s value is just awesome.. He showed me these speakers in comparison to many others and the magnet size is just well Massive compared to heavy hitter name brand speakers much more expensive ! In fact many high end custom car stereo shops silently refuse to carry them because the value is so incredible. When you do speaker to speaker listening test you will be blown away… Massive Audio | High performance car audio. I’m also going with a 8” Infinity Sub to replace the factory Factory tweets will remain (useless to replace these really) All this will be powered by a 4 channel AMP by Lightning Audio. Interesting that you say that. Many people (myself included) feel that upgrading the tweeters alone was a huge upgrade in fidelity.

Hmmm I'll listen to other (tweeters) & see if there is much of a difference... if Honda has particularly bad ones then maybe its worth a swap... I was told by a wear stand point that factory tweets shouldn’t blow any faster then after market because the are designed to take a lot of watts regardless (like most tweets are ) .... and most deliver comparable fidelity... but I'll check it out if most CRZ owners think its worth while ... Thanks.
