I tried the JDM version and these... But there is a solid backing where the reflectors go, so I'd have to cut into the black area where they would be installed...

I see. Because I used the clips from the reflectors on the LEDs and it worked for me but there was nothing blocking it.

I'm not placing blame or making accusations just yet, as I am still troubleshooting. I have two main symptoms that started immediately after hooking up the lights.

I have a Check VSA warning that comes and goes but is mostly on. I know the VSA is very sensitive to abnormal current flows.

I also have a cruise control that kicks off when the headlights are on.

I love these diffuser lights. They seem to work fine. I don't like wire gauge used. I soldered mine, so I think my connections are fine.
I am having the same issue currently although 5 months after installing them. Have you found a solution?

I put quick release connectors on my set (so i could remove the diffuser easily if needed to later on) and one of my wires ended up getting loose somewhere and was shorting out, I lost all my lights, some actual power in the car, then it blew a fuse. I tracked down the loose connection and replaced my fuse and all was well... until one of my reflectors stopped working altogether. I'm debating on getting a second set because I've read that they have improved fitment, and other things are better with this batch (mine are almost a year old). I hope so. Maybe someone with newer ones can chime in.

I would suggest checking your connections again where you spliced them in and make sure they haven't pulled loose or something. If they are touching at all, they can cause the car to act crazy.

I soldered mine for a secure connection. It didn't seem to help.

The closest thing that I found to a work around is to use them for brake lights only. If I use them to come on with the headlights in the "running lights" mode, I start having issues...mainly VSA and cruise control.

I've had them hooked up for brake lights only for a few weeks now with no issues so far. For some reason the VSA doesn't seem to mind that. Maybe it's an intermittent circuit, maybe because the IMA goes to the charging mode when the brake is applied and there is plenty of voltage available.

I have a little concern for possible VSA failure during braking. I really don't want any systems to fail during critical maneuvers.

I considered taking the whole thing apart and rewiring it with a heavier wire to match the rest of the system. That would be the last piece of the puzzle in my testing and the results would tell me which way I would place blame. So far, I haven't found the time or incentive to take on that task. If anyone else wants to try it, please post results.

And I have considered disconnecting all of it and let 'em ride as reflectors. Reflectors are better than nothing. It also comes with the benefit of knowing if something strange is happening to the car, it's the car's fault.

Mine have been just plain reflectors for about six months now. They do look better than nothing being there at all. lol

Default Wiring Mix-up

I just purchased the red reflector version for my NSBP car. Bought some telephone wire taps at Radio Shack that worked well. Downloaded the installation instructions from iJDMTOY:

RED Reflector:

BLACK Wire - Negative
WHITE Wire - Running Light
RED Wire - Bright Mode

Vehicle:
Black Wire = Negative
Red Wire = Positive (Bright Mode)
Green Wire = Positive (Dim Mode)

Went out for a test drive and found that every time I turned on the headlights, the cruise control kicked off!! Traced the problem to the fact that on my car, the red wire with black stripe was the tail lights, and the green wire with white stripe was the brake light. Just the opposite of the instructions. Once I reversed the connections, everything works OK! Really looks good!

The manufacturer changed up the wires again I guess We'll take a look at the wiring again and revise this. Thanks for letting us know!

This exact thing happened to me too and I just installed the lights yesterday. Also my auto stop wasn't really kicking in. Dunno what's wrong. Gonna disconnect the lights. I had problems with them before too. Love em, but ya.
