LED for headlight is more of a looks thing, and be seen thing during the day alone. LED does not produce the correct usable nighttime light to light the road at night, like a bulb will do.
Still not sure what all the hype is about on having them. Cause they look cool is no reason for me. Plus, you will essentually ruin your factory pricey lights to try and fit them in. Hope you have an EXTRA 660 bucks to buy new headlights when you find this out.
Ruin them by trying to get them inside. Or else guess they could hot glue them to the outside lol.
Then you can say, oh wow, look how cool my led driving lights look. Look much cooler than regular DRL.
The right way to do this mod, is to go to Honda, buy the 2013 OEM lights, and replace yours, modding the wiring if that is required. It will save you a possible ticket, etc. Then sell your 2011-12 OEM to someone who hit a deer and needs them.
You can take apart headlights without destroying them. Just takes patience and practice.
I do agree if you want the OEM look that you need to got by the 2013 lights because that's the only way to get something that looks even remotely like that.
There's been a couple guys who have taken their headlights apart. I'm not sure what the issue it. It's not an easy thing to do, but you won't ruin your headlights.
Strip Lights LED Here are some strip lights that you can stick on the outside of the headlight. I haven't use the strip lights before but I have used this website for all of my LED's in my vehicles in the past for the last 4 years and never had any issues with them. They can be a little pricey but there products are very high quality. Once I get my CR-Z I will be replacing all of the Incandescent bulbs with there LED's. I currently have them in my truck that I'm trading in for the CR-Z and can post videos if your interested in how they look.
^ the description says for interior use. Or did you intend to open up the headlight assembly as described (you are brave, because if you mess up, the pricing on a replacement one from Honda is the same as for the 2013 one with LED included). I guess you could try to find one at a wreckers.
Anyone know if the 2013 is PnP with earlier models (mounts, space in the bumper, aiming mechanics, and plugs)?
So it appears your daytime running light will be coming off the left side high beam. As long as that matches up with your car, it should be a plug n play swap.
So, presumably the high beams and LED's both come on together as DRL's. The wiring for the LED must be internal to the housing - is that what you get out of this, too?
Someone want to take a picture of their passenger side back of the headlight for me? I saw a 2013 from the dealership going to get gas and I chased him down while I was at lunch lol. Took a quick peak under the hood and it looks just like mine except for one plug which I think is the HID igniter plug. I don't have an EX though so I'm not positive.
