^ and apologize stumcewing.. I'm still thinking despite the adversity, your cup still might be half full with the potential requirement for a larger vehicle. Granted, will probably hafta get in line for the claim and of course your insurance options you chose will effect the outcome.. The B-man is just being himself..

at least you and your wife are ok. can always replace a car but not a human. where i was located we only got some wind and about 2 inches of rain. i wanted the weather channel almost all day and seeing the damage was amazing.

take it as an opportunity than a loss.

I bet you are kicking yourself for going back in.
Still, it is a car. If your family is intact, and you have plans for it to possibly grow, then you are still blessed in the bigger picture.
Still, you have more immediate problems, and I hope things go better for you and your neighbours, now that the storm has passed. Here's hoping that the water receeds, stores and offices re-open, power comes on and life returns to some semblance of normality soon. I'm sure that insurers are disorganized at the moment, but once they get their act together, they will be processing claims at record rates. Good luck to you, in getting yours settled.

Best wishes from your Canadian friend.

Your insurance company will fix it up and ship it out west. They wont lose any money on this.

Oh, man, that's terrible! Hopefully your insurance company is helpful in getting you back on your feet.

Thanks everyone, I'm hoping to get back to Freeport today to get a few more things as we've had to leave the house due to it being uninhabitable. South Freeport was one of the hardest hit towns on Long Island and as such myself and my wife are now effectively homeless because the flood destroyed the entire lower level of our house, our electrical and heating systems as well as polluting our drinking water to a point where it is undrinkable, in fact we're currently living about 2 hours apart and won't see each other again until the weekend more than likely. In the grand scheme of things losing both cars doesn't bother me.

On a note of insurance, as I saw that mentioned in a previous post. GEICO are sending out an assessor right away, from what the person said to me they are under orders to expedite and assist everything in the storm zones. I am aware that the Obama and US Government has issued statements that anyone in storm zones is to be assisted in every way possible and not given the run around. We'll see what happens in this case.

I've loved being part of this community and I've loved every second that I've had with my CR-Z, to those contacting me about the mods, I'll see what is salvageable. However please bare in mind that the car spent over 5 hours UNDER water (100% submerged) so likely most mods are going to be trashed. I was able to remove the new Clazzio's before the water came in too far, so they we're saved, however everything else is anybodies guess.

I'll try to snap some pictures later when I head back to the house in the daylight.

Yea - keep us posted.. We are a community here and most (including me) have a sincere concern for what you are going through and will be interested in updates..

Also, can look at it in the long term - telling the Children/grandchildren of the adventures of SuperStorm Sandy.

Picture of the CR-Z, I know one person who would love to see some.

But, I think we all would be interested to see them - If you get a chance.. But otherwise, not important..

Hang in there..
