Agreed. Once the SC comes out any regret I'm feeling will probably shoot to 0. Not just for getting a CVT but for basically getting a CR-Z at all.

Nothing is stopping you guys from getting the JR supercharger kit for your CVT. Jackson just hasn't officially released it for the CVT yet because they are still testing it. Flashpro is available for the CVT, so all you need is a JR Tune-Yourself kit and you are good to go. If I had a CVT, I would still have gotten the kit and made it work...

BTW I think the CVT with supercharger would be pretty potent on the Tail of the Dragon. I was running out of 2nd gear on a lot of sections where it wasn't worth it to go into 3rd gear before slowing for the next turn, so I would just bounce the rev limiter until I had to slow down. A CVT will never have this problem.

I had considered going for the 6MT but I didn't because A) I do a lot of stop-&-go traffic and didn't want the hassle, and B) I don't even know how to drive stick.

There's still some times that I wish I could enjoy the feel of a manual CR-Z, but I still feel the CVT was the best option for me (I love not having to worry about what gear I'm in), and it's still sporty just the same. And there's always the paddle shifters for when I want a little extra fun.

I think I'm overall mainly happy with the CVT because I just can't see myself modding (engine wise) an automatic. Especially a Hybrid, I mean it's got a sporty feel at times and has kick ass looks for a hybrid but it's just that, a hybrid. I think if I would have gone with a 6mt I would be more tempted to do things. And that's probably why I'm raven having doubts, I love modding cars and in this one I feel limited to just looks.

I'm not sure I would have considered this car if there wasn't a manual, tbh. I do envy CVT owners when I'm in traffic though; but compared to my manual Ranger, it almost feels like an automatic!

I have no regrets getting the CVT. But one reason is just the fact that it's a hybrid - when coasting, it almost feels like a manual since the recharge kicks in and it doesn't "float" like other automatics, if that makes sense.

I tried the 6MT, but like others, there's just too much stop and go traffic, and I found myself constantly shifting. Well, there's that, and the fact my wifey can't drive a manual ( oh wait, maybe that would have been a reason to get the 6MT o_O )

NOPE.... Then you would have to teach her and that's not fun.

Having to teach my wife how to drive it now.

Had a CRX Si MT then MB KOMPRESSOR MT tried driving my wife's TL with the auto-stick business and that diffinately did not work for me - so olong story short - there was no way I was getting anything but MT with the Z.

when i got mine i bought it at a dealership that offered me a lifetime drivetrain warranty, and they only had two CR-Z's , a black base model manual and a white EX CVT, I REALLLLY wanted a white crz, and i really wanted the EX for the subwoofer, HIDs, and Foglights (three things i wouldve ended up buying anyway). so i went with the CVT.

i really regret not getting a manual but i still consider a white ex to be a better choice than a black base model

This would depend on what you bought the car for. If like me you are simply commuting with it, then an auto transmission is nice for the days that you are stuck in traffic or more interested in the radio then trying to carve a corner. If on the other hand you plan on modifying the car or fancy yourself as some kind of stop light racer, then an MT will help you move along and stroke your ego.
(Sorry for that, but I have been reading web forums and email list servers before that where driving a stick is represented as some sort of a measure of one’s manhood. ANYBODY can do it!)
I own another car that has a MT, and have had one for the better part of the 30+ years I have been driving. I and enjoy that car as well, for different reasons than the CRZ.

Personally, I had no intentions of modifying this car. If I wanted to go fast, this would not be the platform I would choose to start with. I see it as a good, environmentally friendly car that if taken care of will provide an excellent resale when I get tired of it, and in the balance it provides a nice overall driving experience.

So to answer your question, if you buy it and regret it, you should put some more thought into your purchase next time.

Cheers.
