Honda reportedly to trim number of models offered

TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- Honda Motor Co. (7267.TO) will continue to reduce the number of different models it offers as it shifts towards smaller and more environmentally friendly cars, the company's president said in an interview in the Yomiuri Shimbun's Tuesday morning edition.

"We will look to develop vehicles that meet changing technologies and (emissions) regulations," Takanobu Ito told the newspaper.

Of the 3.51 million vehicles Honda sold worldwide in 2008, 70% were made up of sales of four models, the report said. The company offers around 30 different models in the domestic market
