Default Thailand floods delay '12 CR-Zs until January

Thailand floods delay '12 CR-Zs until January

Just got a call from my dealer here in Dallas. I ordered a '12 black/black EX on Oct. 13, expecting to get it around Nov. 20.

The dealer said the Thailand floods are going to delay CR-Z production until around Christmastime, and we won't see any more in the U.S. until January at the earliest. Honda has a fuse box and ECU assembly plant that's been completely shut down by the flooding, and the CR-Z's said parts come from that plant.

News reports I've been reading indicate that Honda's desperately looking for another supplier to build the parts, but this probably means it's been unsuccessful. (Yes, it's affecting other models, too, though I'm not sure which ones).

So all of you expecting to see 2012 models on these shores (including the aftermarket suppliers/makers ... hey; use the time to do more R&D! ) ... it's gonna be a while.

The supply chain was just recovering, and ramp ups for the new CR-V were just starting. I think Mother Nature is pissed at Honda. Probably because of the new Civic.

Default Har!

Agreed, Cybr ... or for not offering a more zoomy CR-Z offering right off the bat (saw your post on the supercharged CR-Z engine at Honda's SEMA booth ... dammit, I KNEW I should have waited a year!). Or for killing the NS-X (and not redesigning it, ever) instead of making it the first hybrid supercar, as rumors have suggested Honda was pursuing ... or for the new VFR motorcycle's godawful looks and -- ready for it? -- dual clutch automatic transmission? Paddle shifters on a VFR? Huh?

OK, I'm jinxing all of us. Shutting up now ... (sorry, Thailand).

Your dealer is full of it. I just got a call from my dealer the other day and said mine would be in at the end of the month.

Default Hmmm...

Exactly what date did you order your CR-Z, Davey? I think timing is everything regarding this delay...

As I understand it (and as I know HoA works things in both its car and motorcycle divisions), factory orders are taken every two weeks. I ordered my car on Oct. 10 with the understanding that the next dealer window to order was Friday, Oct. 14.

If your order was made before Sept. 30, that could explain why you may get your car at the end of the month (which is still late: factory orders should take @ 5 weeks to arrive; a few days sooner if you're near a major port city).

If it was after Sept. 30, well, there may very well be some 'it' to this. Thing is, though, is that pretty much no one is seeing any 2012s around the U.S., and after the tsunami delay and subsequent ramp up, I'd think they should be a lot more prevalent at dealers and on roads (I've been seeing new Civics up the wazoo for about the past month around these parts).

I live in Japan and ordered my CRZ last week. It won't be here until March 2012 due to the Thailand floods.

I'm not a patient person... what should I do!?

Buy some LEDs for your CR-Z and wait for it to arrive so you can install them

Civic si coupe is delayed. The '12 is well worth the wait. I got mine off of the truck with 3 miles on it on the 16th November. EX, Storm Silver, I added arm rest, Front and rear spoiler, XM and Stainless threshholds. Awesome car!

I was called by my dealer last week saying that the date has been pushed forward 1 month for my CRZ!!

He said that most of the production that was taking place in Thailand has been moved to Japan now and they are able to build cars without trouble now.

And Honda get even quicker now. Moved forward yet another month so should be getting it some time in January.

The original dates Honda gave for the car must have been to stay on the safe side. In reality they moved production to another factory awfully fast.
