DaveyG: when did you order your CR-Z? I suspect now that you may be right about my dealer.
I've just been told that I won't see my car until mid-March at the earliest, and that it won't even be built until mid-February, which is the next build cycle. This is the second delay, and the whole situation really stinks. I know U.S. dealers received a few 2012s before the flooding halted production, and several forum members received cars ordered around the same time I ordered mine. The questions I have now are: are U.S. dealers receiving a steady stream (more like a trickle) of 2012s now, is production ramped up, and are folks who ordered CR-Zs after I ordered mine (on Oct. 10) receiving their cars now? KAMware: when did you order your silver EX? If I can make a case, then I'm getting my deposit back and going with another dealer. The rep I initially ordered the car through is at another area Honda dealer now, and he's hinted that the original dealer screwed up regarding my order. I'm just trying to figure out who's right here ... |

I just searched cars.com and they show 719 2012's available for sale now. Why don't you just find the car with your color preference/options there, and deal with the dealer directly. I bet you could find what you want within 500 miles of your home. Flight cost should be under $200 dollars.

Hi - I ordered "my" CR-Z GT Nav in October expecting to get it for January (that's what I was told). In January I checked to be told that "there was a "problem" with the colour - I'd ordered pearl white - and it might be quicker if I ordered another colour. I agreed to change to black becaue I was told this would be quicker and should get to me for March. Well, here we are in April and no sign nor any idea of when my CR-Z will arrive. All I've been able to find out is that the Tsunami caused problems both in Japan and Thailand: the electronics and paint are apparently sourced in Thailand and it's there that the major problems are.
I get all that, what I am really getting exasperated by is the lack of information - I realise in the scheme of things it's a minor irritant, nevertheless the flow of information (or apparent lack of it) is making me wonder how sound the dealerships will be once this hiccup is resolved. Even production of UK-based cars over here was put on short time or halted and most of the supply-lines for those are european with a few key elements sourced from countries around the pacific rim. The dealers can't survive for ever with little or nothing to retail, the knock-on effect of this could be quite serious. I'm hanging on and keeping faith but I suppose at some point with no real info I may have to bail out and look at something else which would be a real shame. ![]() Update: I have just heard that my CR-Z is built and on a boat due to arrive here at the import centre around 15 April ... more anon: Last edited by JonBoy; 04-10-2012 at 07:48 AM.
