What confuses me, a proud owner of a 2013 CRZ EX, I have been trying to get a hold of a 2016 since I heard it would be the last year and wanted the final incarnation (although sadly the color yellow and the special edition "CR-Z 1.5 IMA Final Edition" will never be sold in the US). Dealers (some) in NY tell me they cannot order them while others say they can, but when I called Honda International, not only did they tell me they are still taking orders on 2016 models, a fully revamped model is scheduled to be available late November of this year. I also found this (which is more current than the previous posts about an overpriced hi performance version of the CRZ on the horizon). It also mentions a 7 speed manual, which in the past when talk of the "super" CR Z always referenced an auto only tranny option. So confused as to what to believe now, while a CRZ with a Civic type R engine would be a treat, the $36k price tag that comes along with it is a game changer for me sadly. Who or what to believe?

First mention I've heard of a '17, and I think if it existed we'd have some kind of buzz about it here. However, perhaps you're the harbinger.

16 is quiet nice even if we dont get a final label; I have a 13 im happy with; id consider getting a 16 in a year or 2 used; or even leftover
the interior is a bit nicer with the orange trim; armest; auto handbrake display radio keyless; suspension tweaks; slightly bigger brakes;
really a ton of upgrade considering its the last year;

Yes, it makes you wonder what goes on in the high towers at automotive companies. The "last" year for the CR-Z includes an unlikely amount of engineering for a product that was only going to be sold for one year. I think something went sideways between engineering/production/economics and marketing. And I still think the greatest failing in the entire Z story is that of marketing. The two-seater circumstance obviates a huge portion of the car-buying public, but Mazda, BMW (no others?) soldier on with their sports convertibles. Perhaps the Z needed a retractable top on order to survive. Whatever the reason, I still think it's too bad.

I met up with one of my close friends whom I'd drifted from some twenty years ago, and despite being another motorhead, and savvy to Hondas, he'd not ever even heard of the Z. That has to come down to marketing.

Marketing is definitely at fault, the only place that I've seen the Zed advertised is in the magazine that Honda used to post to existing Honda customers.
Not a brilliant strategy.

Makes you think that the CR-Z is the poster child for Honda's Red Headed Step Child. Gets the short end of any stick! Hahahahaha!
