![]() Report: No Honda CR-Z Si According to Inside Line: News, Road Tests, Auto Shows, Car Photos and Videos Honda's 2011 CR-Z will not get an Si version or a pure electric version, either, for that matter. | June 17, 2010 | American Honda Motor Company, Inc. In an effort to make the CR-Z even less exciting, Honda has announced their will be no Si or EV variants. Speaking with InsideLine, Honda's U.S. executive vice president of sales, John Mendel, confirmed a CR-Z Si would not be launched this summer and is not currently planned for production. When asked about the possibility of a CR-Z EV, Mendel commented "I don't think that there are plans to make this vehicle a pure electric." More importantly, when the CR-Z is launched in the United States, on August 24, it will not be eligible for federal tax credits. This is a bit of a bummer, but as Mendel explains, "The limit per car company is 60,000 hybrids, and we passed that long ago." This means pricing will start under $20,000 and top out at $24,000 for a fully-loaded model. As we have previously reported, the CR-Z features a 1.5-liter petrol engine and Honda's IMA parallel hybrid system. Producing a combined 122 hp (91 kW / 124 PS) and 128 lb-ft (174 Nm) of torque, the hybrid is expected to return 31/37 mpg (36/38 mpg with the CVT). Source: insideline.com

Well it looks like we have to find our own ways to make this little car go vroom. I just want 200hp. Even 180hp would be fine. Just something that makes it a little faster. I have the CVT though so I don't even know if there will be turbo kits available or anything

Probably is true.. but this is appears to be an old article from June 2010 before the actual August 24 USDM release.. A Plug in.. No way.. But other options -- Dunno.. Probably not - especially after the earthquake.. But as always - am sure there will be some enhancements that always make us wish we had "This" year's model... If they didn't - why even bother putting a new model out..

"...this is appears to be an old article from June 2010 before the actual August 24 USDM release.." Glad I am not the only one that realized this. |

Phew. I got a little worried just reading the title.
Here's a more up-to-date article on the subject. As of March 2011, Honda is working on more powerful CR-Z. We will probably see articles proclaiming "No CR-Z Si for 2012", but that only means Honda is waiting for the 2013 model year. |
