NeoFlare, can you get P/N for the pistions in the Mugen vs in the stock? I am trying to find out if the Mugen has betting internals then stock. BTW I hate you for the simple fact you now have this as an option. Honda better dang well bring this to the US. I am working to pay down my current CR-Z as much as possible because as soon as one of these is open here in the US I am ordering one

First off, I love you guys. I mean, not love love, but it's cool to see people into their cars. Second, what I'm about to write will probably piss people off. Don't take it personally.
If you want a fast car, buy a fast car. If you're freakin' loaded with cash and can't find a way to spend it fast enough, drop a K20 engine in the CR-Z. Sure, it'll set you back $6,000 plus labor, and you'll need to bash around the engine compartment to make some room for it, plus the ECM, stability control, air conditioning and other features might be lost (and the CEL stays on forever...bye-bye emissions test pass), but hey, it's your money. Oh yeah, don't forget transmission refit and suspension upgrades that'll be required if you really want to push it. All that for ~225 horses. The point is, you're limited by your engine. The stock CR-Z engine can only do so much. It's efficient, I'll give it that, and sporty, but it ain't a 454 big block. Don't think you'll squeeze extra horsepower out of it, you can't. You can free up horsepower, but the most you'll ever get is 122 hp, and that's at 6000rpm. Have you heard it @ 6000rpm? It's a banshee screaming. I'm going to take a wild arse guess, but I bet most of us didn't buy the CR-Z for performance. Or maybe some did, I dunno, it doesn't matter. Point being, sure, you could piece-meal together a fast CR-Z, but it's going to freakin' cost you, big time. I am, at times, just baffled at what I read on this forum. And Mugen is too, most likely. Reason being, we have the division of labor to thank for the low cost of stock performance cars. The CR-Z aint' one of them, folks. If you want performance, check out the 3.6L 323 HP V6 Chevy Camaro. The cost? The same as a CR-Z.

Hmm... just a few bolt on's and mine is over 130hp (10 more than you say the cr-z would max out at)... Some parts of what you're saying I'll agree with. I don't think there's a ton more room for improvement on the motor without changing internals, but there is room. Plus I'm still running at 40mpg with 130hp. Bore over the throttle body and pick up a Hondata and it should be close to 140. Is it a huge improvement? No, but it is an improvement over stock and makes the car a bit more fun to drive. Would I spend the stupid asking price on the Mugen S/C, nope, but to each their own. Yes a Camaro may be the same price and quicker, but look at the difference in mileage or the lack of style or lack of uniqueness with the Camaro. Also look at the depreciation of that same Camaro. It drops quicker than the cr-z as well. It's ridiculous the amount of Camaros on the street. I'd rather be in the cr-z because I rarely see them. There's pluses and minuses with going any route. The people on here are trying to improve upon their cars the way they see fit, why knock them down for that? And just so you know I've got a Chevy in the garage as well, so it's not like I don't care for Chevy.

Not bashing anyone dude, just sayin' there's no replacement for displacement. I've been there, done that. When we're talking about aethestics, we're off the subject of performance. Some may say the CR-Z looks like crap. In the end, I bought my CR-Z because it gets good gas mileage, it's fun to drive, and it's a 2 seater so it's just me and my woman.
