Post Honda TS-1X CR-Z Coming to 2011 Tokyo Auto Salon

Honda TS-1X CR-Z Coming to 2011 Tokyo Auto Salon

Honda will bring the TS-1X CR-Z test study model made by Honda Access Corporation, the Honda aftermarket parts and accessories specialist, to the Tokyo Auto Salon this year. The event will be held from Friday, January 14, to Sunday, January 16, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. Honda Motor Co.’s display will include automobiles and motorcycles, power products, racing vehicles, and other products.

It might not be the Type-R version of the CR-Z everyone wants, but the TS-1X is definitely something interesting. It comes fitted with a range of aggressive accessories, including a full bodykit, new wheels and matte black paint scheme. The study looks good from the front, with aggressive lines taking things in the right sporty direction, but the rear wing looks strange. In the end, a hybrid is still a hybrid, and it will never go as fast as it looks.

It will be joined under the spotlight by a range of other customized models including another CR-Z, a Fit Hybrid and the Japanese domestic market STEPWGN. Of more interest than the hybrids should be the Sports Modulo NSX, which is fitted with a range of accessories scheduled to go on sale at the end of May. Also on display will be a variety of Honda motorcycles as well as a number of race cars including the HSV-010 GT, which won both the driver and team titles for the Super GT Series GT500-class races, and 2011 Indy Japan 300 mascot car.

The Tokyo Auto Salon attracts both major automakers and the big names in the aftermarket scene, similar to SEMA.

Maybe its just me, but I'm getting to the point that unless these tuner cars have some go-fast goodies I could care less. Another body kit'ed up CRZ with some Decepticon thing on the back. yay.

If that's the case, what's the point with these juvenile body kits?

Make the car fast, then we'll talk. Bring on forced induction & direct injection, Honda. I'd rather see Honda spending their development money on an aftermarket factory approved turbo kit instead of this stupid nonsense.

Else they're just contributing to creating a bunch of posers, and making all CR-Zs into a joke by association with the tarted up Honda crowd.

There is nothing more stupid than seeing a car on the street so weighed down by aero and supposed go-fast crap and it's still only OEM power (or if the nitwit has tinkered with the engine, less than OEM power).

/end rant

Now git off my lawn before I shoot you.

On a serious note I agree Honda should be promoting development into performance aftermarket and not just more bodykits.

I think the standard body kit looks fine just the way it is...
But on a serious note, I rather see Honda working on the current engine instead moving onwards already. The 1.5 IMA has a lot of potential; let the big boys put in some toys for us...
