Thumbs up

My car is the model of consistency, 43.7 mpg when I gassed up today, awesome I have changed my route too but its the same going home as it is going to work, so now my driving is 50/50 instead of 25% city and 75% highway, so once I get a couple weeks under my belt, we'll see how that goes. At some point the heat wave will end and I expect my mileage to go up a bit too, so maybe that elusive 45 mpg number will rear its head

You will hit 45 mpg or more in the next few weeks. In my Civic I am averaging 38 mpg the last few tanks but I need a trans service and driving more city lately. Did not see you at the car show but I was gone by 6. A lot of cars did not show up but the crowd was bigger.

A trans service, is it an auto or something? I wasn't at the show because it was buddy's wife's birthday on Saturday and we all went out, so I missed the show but I did go to the show last Saturday at the Toyota/Scion dealership in Palatine, that was awesome I can't wait to hit the higher mpg's pretty soon, just a little goal of mine for the car right now.

My g/f's Mazda 6 gets 27 all the time, its really consistent and when I drive it, you can feel the trans shifting in every gear too, glad she's running premium now and we just had the plugs changed out about a month ago, they were the originals and said FoMoCo on them, imagine that. Its had Mobil 1 in it since 30k and that was over 20k ago, we also change out the trans fluid when doing the oil change as well, well, just 3 quarts due to that's all that comes out of the pan when removing the drain plug, cheap insurance I say. Brakes are coming up very soon, when she had the coolant serviced at the dealership they checked the brakes and the fronts were at 5% but we've got 4 new rotors, front and rear pads ready to be installed, just waiting on my buddy to have the time to do the brake job.

Sorry, got off track a little bit there

I have a few more miles and then I have to decide if I am gonna keep or trade the car in for a new car. There is no CRZ's at my dealer so I might be going back to the Fit if the price is right. I have 33000 miles on my Civic and getting a life time mpg of 37. The Fit was 36 and a Manual. The Fit was better in the snow. If I keep the Civic I have some maintenance I have to do and its a automatic. Hopefully when I need to decide they have a CRZ. All my Honda's got about the same mpg and all ran premium except for my wife's Civic which she ran regular and got 20-25 mpg even when I drove it.

The another level car show had the usual people but the 4th level had a few dozen cars missing. 3rd level was light too. There was a lot of people there and my son said there they should of let some of the cars people drove there to fill the garage. There was more cars parked around that where better than some at the show.

Surprising about the turnout, the weather was perfect too!

Now as far as the CR-Z goes, well, find another dealership or have them do a dealer trade, surely you'll be able to get the most out of its mileage, try Lisle Honda and ask for Keith Clinton, he drove over 4 hrs away to get my ride. I loved my Fit for sure but this car get's better mileage and handles even better due to it being lower to the ground and being a little wider, not to mention the wider tires/wheels I've got on it.

Would you get an auto CR-Z or stick?

Model of consistency, 43.9 mpg It sucks about the gas prices though, I paid $4.45 for 93 at my Shell yesterday, damn "issues" with the pipeline, sick and tired of hearing this crap. When a mechanic breaks his wrench working on your car, does he charge YOU more money..........NO, someone call the

I am looking into a manual, I like the idea of controlling and holding a gear. I figured out the best time to get gas. I filled up this morning and got 40 mpg for the tank. I got 50 mpg on the ultra gauge on the way to work and expect this tank to be the best yet. When I got home 60 miles later the gauge read 46 so its about 4 mpg higher then when I get gas after work by my house. Gas price are a killer but now its a better deal percentage wise.

The best outside temperature for mpg is 60 to 80 degrees. I know how you feel about BP Amoco premium but its the best pump gas in this area. Shell is a close second. I lose mpg with Shell but not as bad as regular gas.

Still have a few more miles to go and haven't had time to look into it yet. You will the first to know. Ive been working a lot and the wife is out of state working.

Well SB I'm not going to blame the use of BP over Shell for my recent 2.4 mpg loss, but rather the change in weather with the rain we had and the temp drops in the morning, it came on rather suddenly, but maybe, just maybe, the change in fuel had something to do with it, what do you think? I got gas on the way to work this morning, Shell 93 but not at the same station, don't think its going to be a big deal as its the same type of fuel, your thoughts SB.
