I put 9.8 gallons in today and the trip computer advised 15 miles to E. There were two bars left lit. I usually fill up a 1/4 of a tank but the wife was driving and not paying attention.

Something doesn't sound right here...

Exactly what I thought, so I did it again and wound up with 10.9 gallons filled. Next time I'm feeling froggy, I'll take pictures for you.

I'm not raggin' on your here, so don't think I am but rather informing people that running your tank low like that is a bad for your fuel pump. Most fuel pumps are surrounded by the fuel and it thus acts as a coolant for the pump and when you run it that low all the time the pump is running with nothing around it, that may cause premature fuel pump failure. Not only that, but over time, if there's anything in the tank, its going to get sucked through the filter more and its not like we can service the fuel filter like an older car

I see your in Cali so its not getting cold there but running low here is NO NO, so please, don't do this, there's not gain from running the tank that low. I also thought our tank was 10.6 gallons

I've run around 40 miles past 0 remaining before. I drive a bit more conservatively during those times though. The closest I've gotten to running out is putting 10.4 gallons in the 10.6 gallon tank. I'm pretty used to the buffer that Honda puts in their vehicles. Before the Z I had a 2007 Civic Hybrid and I got her up to 602 miles on a little over 12 gallons.

Default Fuel tank Range indicator

Yesterday I one bar on the guage, 7 miles left to go on the range indicator. I filled up 9.8 gallons to nearest dollar after first click. Good to know there is a bit more reserve left. 38mpg so far in 1,100 miles in Michigan. Also, in case you did not know, if you hit the info button, the big yellow "Low Fuel" message goes away so you can look at the range.

I wish I could stop that yellow message from popping up, gets really annoying.

running low in our area isn't that big of a deal anymore. we don't have a fuel return so if anything in the tank was gonna freeze or rust it would do it regardless. and yes our tank is as big as the fit tank. running down to 0 miles doesn't mean your car will shut off. still got about a gallon left. running past 0 is bad for the fuel pump.
