Default Motivation for better MPG

So I'm wondering, since there seems to be some complaining about gas prices pretty much everywhere these days. How much are you paying for fuel atm? Does it affect how you drive?

For reference I live in Norway, so I guess I'm not exactly the one paying the least.

For 1 liter of 95 octane I pay on avarage 13 NOK, which atm is about $2,3 USD

In gallons that would make it $8,8 USD per gallon.

Similar here: £1.35 per litre of 95, which is about $8.45 for a US gallon.
I wouldn't say the price affects how I drive - I try to be efficient on the commute because I don't like having to fill up and if I'm careful I can do a whole week on 1 tank.

I find myself doing the same. I try not to use Sport at all within work hours. I mostly end up running in Normal when at work or Eco if I'm on the highway. I find Eco doesn't work that well around where I live. After all they call Bergen "the city between the 7 mountains" for a reason That translation is probably really poor btw.

When I use my car for work I get 3,50 NOK per km I drive as compensation though. It is one of the reasons why I bought the car, as I get that nomatter what my fuel consumption is. My old Accord didn't get that good milage Again $1 USD is about 5,6 NOK atm.

Last time I filled up my Z gas was right around $3.46 per gallon, but when I first started planning my gas was up around $4.80.

Sorry about the high prices over there, ouch!

A $ price from a US owner is not going to be very comparable as I'm paying $3.40 a U.S. gallon for petrol in Houston Texas, and about $3.65 per gallon out in the small town I live in. Prices are going down here, as it was $4+ per gallon just a couple of months ago.

I lived in the UK for a decade and when there, I did walk more and took public transportation frequently (but compared to salaries - prob. roughly just as painful as petrol was about $4 to $5 per gallon but I earned about half what I do now). I lived in Paris for a year and the fact that everyone played bumper cars to park was a major incentive to use the metro. The car was for weekends and holidays and metro strikes.

I did not realize Europe has a higher average octane that the US does. When I pay $3.50 per gallon (or $0.92 per liter), it is for 87 octane. Premium is usually 91-93 octane (but it is still only $0.20-$0.50 per gallon more expensive)...

I can't find were I read it, but Octane numbers are measured differently in US vs EU as I understand it. Maybe someone that actually knows what they are talking about should elaborate

$3.65 US a gallon.

Not to be the doom & gloom guy but brace yourselves; there are rumors of removing the Dollar as the world reserve currency. If that happens we'll be at $8-$9 a gallon too.

I've only used the 87 octane for the Z so far. I pay $3.26/gallon as of late. The premium 92 octane is $3.66. I'm a bit out in the sticks of Virginia, too
