Default Potential mileage for my commute ?

Hi I am considering getting a 2011 CR-Z with CVT and
I am trying to get an idea for what my mileage might be
like.

BTW I am coming from a 2004 Eclipse GT 6 cylinder
getting 25-26 mpg on the commute described below.

My commute is 128 miles daily mostly flat roads with few hills.
I generally drive 5 - 10 over the speed limit and try to stick one
lane and use the cruise as much as possible.

Breakdown of my commute below:

45 miles on a 65 mph speed limit highway.
I usually drive 70-75 on this stretch
with cruise control on the whole time staying
in one lane if possible.

45 miles on a 55 mph speed limit highway.
I usually drive 60-65 on this stretch
with cruise control on the whole time staying
in one lane if possible.

38 miles on a 45 mph road through suburbia/business/strip mall
type area - lights every 1 - 5 miles through here.
I usually drive between 50-60 here staying to one lane.

Thanks,
Brett

I'm certain you'll find it considerably better than 25-26 mpg. I have the 6 mt so mileage is a little bit different but you can see mine below with much shorter commutes in general. I think its safe to say the longer the commute the better your mileage and I would guesstimate you'll get somewhere in the low to mid 40s at least. Speeds above 65 will compromise your mileage a bit.

I would have to agree with varoom! Probably low to mid 40's with out any issues. Even on the 65mph stretch (70-75), you will probably get high 30's..

First, I see it is your first post - Welcome to the Forum..

Even if you only get my mileage of 36 or so (I do short commutes 7 or less miles in a very hilly area), you're still making out. But, based on most everyone else's mileage and a description of your commute, you'll do much better than me.

My commute is 140 miles daily, I do mostly freeways/highways in excess of 80mph, but keep my speed steady. I live in Colorado, so I do have a few hilly areas on my commute, 18 inch rims, and I average 43mpg. Before the rims it was 45mpg.

your MPG will rock, as long as you stay off it and let the cruise control do the work.

I have a CVT EX as well and my current averages are about...

70-75mph: 35-37mpg
60-65mph: 40-42mpg
50-55mph: 43-46mpg

This is based on a 37 mile trip with cruise control pretty much on all the time. In econ mode the whole way.

I'm going to estimate your overall trip to be around 39-41mpg in econ mode.

If your driving long distance the chances for above average fuel economy will be greater. 40 MPG or close.

I only drive 66-80 miles to and fro work, I can get low 40's in the local urban roads with minimal stoplights but highway tends to drop fuel economy down a bit if I drive above 70 MPH.
