so,

this number should be going up i think.

i've been driving my car (bought a month ago) mostly in econ mode.

i'm going to try to drive only in econ mode in the city and normal mode on the highway and see how the mileage works out.

The modes determine what type of driver you are whether you have a lead or feather light feet and does not affect your mpg rating. I've tried all modes and average the same regardless.

After about 5000 miles, I can report an average of 36mpg for the whole distance. Most of my commuting is short distances and I only get around 32. On the highway for long trips my best was 42, and I was trying really hard to take it easy. More typical is 39-40 on the highway. My worst trip was a recent 270 mile romp through the hills of upstate New York, in rain and snow conditions at very high speed (more than I care to admit to in public) and I got about 33mpg, not to mention running the battery to nothing on each uphill climb! Economy vs normal mode isn't enough different to bother with economy since I don't like the way the car drives in that mode. I use the normal mode mostly, and sport mode when the mood strikes me. I find sport mode burns the battery down very quickly and the car looses its zippy feel because there's nothing left at the bottom of the pedal. A turbo would fill that gap nicely

My previous car, a Mini Cooper, never did better then 22mpg around town, and didn't quite make it to 30mpg on the highway. It was quicker than the CRZ, but the CRZ is better in almost every other aspect.

I was getting around 40mpg avg. when i first picked my Z up a week ago, but, recently put 16" Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 snow tires on the orig.wheels this last tank full, and now I'm only getting around 34mpg. Should go back up when they come off in the spring? Will have to wait and see, since i will be putting 17" wheels and tires on at that time...and leaving the snows on the orig.wheels and storing them.

In the Summer, I usually do around 36/37 but since it's the "winter" now, I can do 39-41 no problem.

On flat open roads I find I now get consistently 4.4l /100km with my current mod level. Adding the Takeda intake didn't lower my numbers, but it made it easier to achieve the same numbers. (Note that when you measure liters per 100km lower is better). When the road starts climbing, the numbers do as well though.

Varg, my man. What's your average speed on the flat highway to achieve such awesome fuel economy? I'm averaging 5.6l/100km but that's 80% highway at 90-110km/h and 20% town driving.
