You have a CVT... do you have it in Sport mode while you drive 20 MPH?

I wish I could say. We drive a mixed bag, probably averaging 30 mph over a tankful and are easily doing 39 mpg. Maybe your A/C setting are set colder as this will limit autostop or something like that? Have you tried driving the Eco Bar Graph? This is the one where you try to keep the graph towards the center. I can help 'train' you on how to maximize IMA usage and regenerating.

I got my highest tank-to-tank mpg to date at 43.0 mpg for mixed city/highway driving with an approximate 80% Normal / 20% Sport Mode mix. I never did real ECO mode test, but on a 20 mile weekend afternoon trip (city driving at pace with regular traffic) in ECO mode, I got 1 mpg (car computer mpg calculation per trip odometer reset mode) less than the return evening trip (traffic unchanged) in NORMAL mode. A short part of the evening (NORMAL mode) return trip may have been helped by a local tailwind, since for about 1 minute total my mpg indicator bars varied from 70 mpg to 100 mpg (South Florida is flat).

Cheated a little by filling the tank to the point that I could see the fuel at the top and drove from Reno down to Sacramento, but got this when I reached Sacramento:

2012 - had it since the end of November 2011-- turned 10,000 miles today. CVT has produced 37.3 for me so far. I drove to orlando Fla. over New Years and drove many miles while I was there and the flat lands gave me 39mpg. I live in Tennessee and considering the hills that I drive every day- I am pleased. (Had an '84 CRX that consistently got 50mpg (1.3 and a carb 5 speed). Love my CR-Z

I voted 39-40mpg. Since I've had my car I've done over 3k miles with it trip meter showing 39.8. My tanks range from 36-44mpg, with a lot of mixed driving.
