How long is your daily commute then? Guessing the car isn't broken in yet either?
For daily driving around the city I don't get those numbers either, but on longer trips it is usually better, even in sports mode. |

I dont know what they claim other then the usual 32city/37highway advertisement at the delearship. I Sometimes hit near 50 when driving on highway. Remember, if you want to know your current mpg during a drive, watch the meter - the little bar thing that says 1 to 100 and has the digital blocky bars. However, the digital number readout near your temp and odometer on the bottom right is average overall. You may be getting 50 on higway, but only 32 in city. Average of those is like 38. That would explain why its showing you 41. If you ask me, thats pretty good. I average 37 to 41mpg. Thats normal in city and eco on highway and shifting when it tells me to and not flooring it at every light. Pple are pretty blown away just by those numbers let me tell ya! lol

I'm guessing the OP is in the UK - Honda quote 56.5 mpg as the combined figure on UK gallons.
The combined is a weighted average of the urban (city) 46.3 mpg & extra-urban (highway) 64.2 mpg from a European standard test. It's well known that the figures don't mean much in the real world, it just allows you to make a comparison between cars - it depends so much on your journey & driving style. |

Yep the 56.5mpg is related to the Uk figures, I'm not sure what you a re doing Thelearner, I've had mine about 4 months now and regularly get low to mid 50's for a mixture of driving. I only use Eco in town and even that impacts heavily on the economy, I find that Normal gives better results on A/B roads for me anyway.

To translate the OP's fuel economy numbers to US MPGs, he is getting 34 MPG (US) and wondering why he cannot get the advertised 46 MPG (US) as shown in the UK.
And I would agree, that very few people will ever be able to get a combined fuel economy of 46 MPG (US). Keep in mind that the way the US EPA numbers are derived is that the car is tested through the standard test cycles and then the EPA applies a fudge factor of about 10% to 20% to reduce the fuel mileage that they actually achieved in the testing, to come up with the published number we see in the US. Without these fudge factors applied, the EPA fuel economy for the CRZ CTV would be approximately 39 city/48 Highway/43 combined. And if those were the numbers on the sticker of your new CRZ, I think we would hear many here in America with the same complaint as the OP. Here is a link to the cycle that the EPA uses: Detailed Test Information Here is a link to the rules that the EPA uses for testing and calculating the numbers: Regulations & Standards | Fuel Economy | US EPA |

Had my CRZ-GT for 4 month now, travelling up and down the M4 in Berkshire (UK) 40 miles a day. Mixed driving in Eco and Normal, hardly ever use Sport unless its the weekend and I need to let some steam off.
So far my average MPG is about 41 mile per (UK) gallon. Not impressed was hoping for a lot more, I don't think I am a bad driver I use cruise control as much as possible. So not sure how to get the additional 16mgp. Del |
