that would be awesome to have an extra 3 gallons on top of the 10 already there... i see the CR-Z getting well over 600miles/tank if that were the case...
but never seen/heard of this

I'm all for real fuel cells but the extra gas tank idea is interesting. I dislike going to the gas station (for no apparent reason). I really liked the 1st gen Insight. When I drove it nicely, I could get an entire week (650 miles) on a tank of gas.
You can get small fuel cells for drag racing but the question is how do you pipe them into the main tank? |

ok, i guess the question is... where do you work that someone knows more about the CR-Z than any of us??
![]() i'm sure a custom aluminum tank could be made... the only concern i could see is being able to fill it up and capping the original tanks opening... unless the reserve is routed from the new tank... it would be cool to fill up and drive around for about 200 miles before even touching the stock tank of gas, the only thing that would be hard to calibrate, or read wrong most of the time, is the "range" meter...

Make sure your fabricator friend knows that for it to be street legal, he has to have it certified. It needs to be within the 'frame', emmissions/evap and other things also need to be spot on. US is very, very weird about after market fuel cells.
Good luck! I'll buy one when/if it's ever available. Quote:
And yes, Bizzy, if done right you'll be able to only use the fuel cell. This was a HUGE issue for an aftermarket part maker to get done. He started ~3.5 years ago. I sold my FJ 2 months ago. As of then, he still had'nt figured out how to make it street legal.
