Why is this useful? Well, ethanol has 30% less energy content than pure gas. A 10% ethanol blend will sap your fuel economy by 3% compared to ethanol-free gas. If 15% ethanol is put into place, then that mpg loss becomes 4.5%. You can search by state/city at the bottom of the main page, or pull up a google map and zoom around. I have no affiliation with pure-gas.org other than thinking it's a good idea. I'm already seeing some mpg improvement by running ethanol-free gas.

Ethanol also destroys rings, seals ect. I work at Lowe's and was in the OPE (Outdoor Power Equipment) Department. I sent out more small motors destroyed by ethanol then I cared to deal with, even after all the boxes warn against it.
Side note, Chevy released a statement that it was effecting their engines as well with breaking down rubbers in tubes ect. I have it saved at work in a folder. It sucks. |

Also keep in mind that some of these stations tend to be independent. So some may be rather old and run down. I just hope the tanks are clean.
I suspect there are clusters near lakes due to boaters. There are a lot of older boats out there that don't deal well with ethanol. |
