Default 55 MPH Test drive

Driving 55 mph back and forth from work. First day after roung trip is 48.7 mpg. Had a strong wind out of north while going home (head wind). Noticed a weaker increase in mpg's going into head wind.
As posted earlier, getting 50 mpg was tough. Hoping to top that with 50-55 mpg. Will post updates as we go. BTW have 2376 miles, and still not broken in. Still 90% oil life. Has anyone else been notified of first oil change yet? If so what mileage? Computer is suppose to notify for oil change just wondering about what mileage this would be...

if it's like every other Honda it will say it around 15% oil life left... it will notify you the moment u start the car that it's at 15% and keep doing so every time u start the car...

Just recieved a notice from my dealer that my first oil change will be free. Don't you love how they get you started to bring in the car. I'm a do-it your selfer, however, can't get front wheels up ramps w/o damaging front lower spoiler. Plus I'm getting too old to be crawling around on the ground.

Default Your owners manual says follow the % count down but

The dealership is interested in seeing you as often as they can. The oil change % countdown is based on many things including the way the car is being driven. So there is no set mileage to get it done anymore. Engine and oil tolerances have progressed from the days of the every 3000 miles rule. Sure it doesn't hurt the engine to change your oil every 3000 but is it needed? Save that money for your Mugen shift knob!

btw, be careful when taking it to the dealership... those "free" oil changes etc get recycled oil... if you take it there for the free change you can purchase your own oil and have them put that in instead... and if u forget to buy oil b4 u get there just swing by the pars dept and buy a few quarts... make sure they USE the oil you just bought on YOUR car tho... i've seen some just put them to the side and use the recycled oil...

was going to ask when or what oil life % i should change at. Since honda doesnt specialize in oil and filters getting after market is OK? Synthetic oil and fram filter or does anyone know of a better "performance" filter co. On my crx i used synthetic mobile1.

WHAT!!! Honda filters are some of the best performing on the market... they're basically the same price as an aftermarket cheap filter too... you can pick up Oil AND the Filter from any Honda dealership and change it urself...

Default 55 MPH Test Drive 2nd Day

Had some traffic today through the construction zones. You know slow down and speed back up. However I was able to increase the mileage to 51.5 on my way to work, but was reduced to 50.0 due to late night construction work on hwy. Now as I have posted in the past the computer will read lower than actual manual calculation. Will update again after tomarrow. I also must add that I have only ran A/C on the first day as the weather here in TX is getting very nice...

Default 55 MPH test drive 3rd day

Seems we are still getting winds out of the North. Mileage went up to 51.2 going to work (south). Watched the tenths tick down all the way home, mileage after arriving home is reading 50.0. OD is 240.7 tot miles so far with one bar above 1/2 tank of gas. Will loose this bar driving into work today, but will have 280 plus for half tank. This will be my best reading at half tank thus far.
