Wink 50th Reunion--WOW!!

I'm driving from 'Bama to Mt Shasta, [Extreme Northern] California "Cali" Sep 10-20 for my 50th HS Reunion: well over 5,000 RT miles. Can't wait to see how Christine performs. Tho' I've been averaging appx 46 mpg over 24-fuelups, I'll be happy to achieve anything above a 40 mpg avg as I'll be driving faster & may encounter many UPhills along the way. We shall see. I'll report results a day or so after I return home. Haven't done such a lengthy roadtrip since I rode my motorcycle out there way back in '96. [26-days, 6750 miles, on less than $1,000 bucks total]. Things have changed a tad in 16-years,,,,yessss they have!

I love my car, too, but why are you driving rather than flying?! I hope you're taking in lots of sights along the way?

Three to-dos when getting a new car:
1. Show it off.
2. Road trip.
3. Post pic of you and your car.

I like your thinking, plus, to answer karlev's question....I HATE FLYING. Had to do it for my job once-upon-a-time for SEVERAL years. Plus, have flown from here to Cali twice IN THE PAST DECADE. WHAT A GOAT-ROPE IT IS these days, right? Sheesh!! Never again, if I can help it--and I can. Yeahhhh, Road Trip!

I love flying... But I also love driving. I just think in this case for me the cost would make flying my option. But I understand! Enjoy the journey!

Congratulations!!!

I know where Mount Shasta is! I'll be driving through there at the end of the month for my friend's wedding in Medford, Oregon (I used to live here). I will take my car and will see how it goes. Hoping to get there in only a tank of gas. 300 miles for me from Reno, NV.

Good luck!!!

I went the route from Reno up 395 to Susanville, then CA36/44/89 into Mt Shasta & up to Weed & then 97 eventually into Montague--where my friends live.
I lived in Ashland, OR when I was 15, then parents moved back to Dunsmuir (10 mi S of Mt Shasta) 'til I graduated HS. After my dad died, my mom moved to Medford for the rest of her life--several relatives there. So, small world SuperCRZ. Enjoy the ride AND watch out for deer on 36/44/89, esp dusk & dawn. Beautiful drive thru the forests as you know!

Cool!!! You should have updated us on your trip so you could have met fellow owners along the way. Hahahaha!

Yes, I will take the 395 route going to Medford, it's the fastest way to get there. Just have to be careful with the deers for sure!!!

I'll probably leave around 8am on Friday to be there by 1pm or 2pm and have time to relax before the wedding the next day.

Did you have a hard time with taking I-5 coming out of 89? I'm a bit concerned about the uphill on I-5. It seems to steep for me. Oh well, just need to slow down and take it to the lower gears.

Glad you made it back!

I only went as far as Weed on I5, but I bet the Siskiyous are gonna kill ya' coming into S. Oregon!
Enjoy the ride--I did!
