I get it. We're cool.

The guys over at cleanmpg all report increased tire life as a result of running higher pressures.
I have run 48 on my 2003 civic hybrid (52 mpg life average over 230,000 miles) and my 2011 cr-z (46 mpg life average over 30,000 miles) tires last LONGER if you don't run the @&$!?! out of them. Both cars handle better imho.

There's a MAX psi on a tire for a reason, has alot to do with the construction mainly, so why in the hell would you ever wanna go OVER the MAX?!?! The tires will just bounce the car around, ride rough and wear out in the middle VERY quickly, just the facts, no "wives tales" there. This is just not worth it, 40 psi would be the most I'd go, even if the tires are rated at 51 psi like mine are, I run 38 psi in my car.

FACT: your already 1 psi over MAX, then you drive and the tire heats up and the psi goes up, thus meaning you end up over your 1 psi over MAX setting, too much MAX going on here!

If you looking for an increase, why not try what a couple of us have done, run premium for a couple tanks and monitor what happens there, much, much safer and cheaper, a blown tires is more than the extra $2.00 or so you put in the tank with premium, just want you to be safe out there!

Fact: the max pressure rating printed on the tires is the max when cold. It is expected that they will heat up.
